The Senior Analytics Lead in Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED) Early Clinical Development (ECD) Clinical Insights & Automation (CI&A) team is a contributor to the company’s clinical operational planning efforts. The role contributes to an integrated Clinical Operations Plan (iCOP), which is used to guide end-to-end, cross-business unit Clinical Operations planning and strategies at the disease area (DA) level. The role provides operational insights with capabilities in forecasting, landscape analysis, advanced data analysis, AI-enabled analytics solutions, and project management to support Clinical Operations and management for effective data-driven decision making. This role participates in global workgroups and initiatives to support cross-business unit best practices for processing, analyzing, generating actionable insights, and presenting data in innovative and consumable ways to address inquiries and support business planning and strategies.

The Opportunity:

● Work with cross-business unit Clinical Operations DA-level workgroups, Clinical Operations leaders, project/study teams, and lifecycle teams to understand business needs and priorities, as well as immediate scope of work.

● Independently deliver on increasingly complex portfolio analytics projects that support Clinical Operations planning and disease area strategies.

● Partner with software engineers and data scientists to translate Clinical Operations questions into analytics products, AI-enabled solutions, and consumable insights for stakeholders.

● Perform advanced data analysis, forecasting, and landscape analysis to support clinical operational planning, including patient recruitment strategies, enrollment forecasting, country footprint, and clinical site selection.

● Utilize fit-for-purpose methodologies, including predictive modeling, ML/AI, and scalable prototypes, to analyze complex data, including Real World Data and internal data, interpret results, measure project/study performance, and support portfolio-level decisions.

● Identify, interpret, and communicate the effects that trial design elements, country and site selection, competitor activities, and new engagement tactics may have on clinical trial recruitment, retention, and enrollment forecasts.

● Contribute to relevant data science and analytics projects, support implementation through the product development cycle, and help ensure successful adoption and impact.

● Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and SMEs from across business units in global workstreams; contribute analytics expertise and technical knowledge to the development of aligned strategies and tools.

● Identify and implement solutions to address complex analytical challenges and opportunities for continuous improvement; engage managers and peer groups regularly for coaching, assistance, and advocacy.

● Consult with IT service, software engineering, and data governance teams to clarify data and technology needs. Support internal and/or external team members to acquire, aggregate, and curate data and information.

Who You Are:

● Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Life Sciences, Public Health, or a related field; graduate-level degree preferred.

● 3+ years of experience with Bachelor’s; 1+ years with Master’s; or equivalent combination of education and experience, in Patient Insights, Investigator Insights, Forecasting, Competitive Intelligence, Advanced Data Analytics, Information Visualization, Data Science, AI/ML-enabled analytics solutions, Clinical Operations, or the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.

● Experience working with and engaging Clinical Operations stakeholders, project/study teams, and cross-functional partners to understand business needs and prioritize analytical work.

● Experience working with SMEs from cross-business units to understand and diagnose business problems, as well as using data-driven methods to analyze and solve business situations.

● Experience independently delivering complex data analysis, forecasting, landscape analysis, or analytics projects that support clinical operational planning.

● Experience with scripting and analytical programming preferred, such as Python, R, SQL, JavaScript, or other JavaScript-based libraries.

● Experience working with software engineering teams to develop analytics products, dashboards, prototypes, APIs, data pipelines, or AI/ML-enabled solutions preferred.

● Knowledge of Snowflake/cloud architecture, data modeling concepts, and various forecasting methods and techniques preferred.

● Knowledge of Clinical Operations analytics, including clinical trial landscaping, enrollment forecasting, recruitment and retention analytics, country and site selection, and/or RWD/RWE applications preferred.

● Able to work effectively in a matrix environment, manage multiple priorities, and re-prioritize work on short notice with appropriate guidance.

● Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong interpersonal skills and a consultative mindset, with the ability to develop strong partnerships.

Onsite presence, on our South San Francisco campus, is expected for at least 3 days a week.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, California is $125,200 - $232,400. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
