Job Description

OVERVIEW

The Maintenance Team Lead provides safety and customer service-based leadership across the Cedar Rapids Cereal plant. The Maintenance Team Lead has direct team leader responsibilities for the mechanics on all three shifts. This position uses continuous improvement tools, leadership skills, and is responsible for fostering a team environment. This individual is responsible for maintenance efficiencies, planned downtime events, and eliminating unplanned downtime.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Daily Responsibilities

  • Will be based in the Cereal department, deliver maintenance leadership across the all three shifts.
  • Human and food safety resource
  • Maintenance Lead hours will be flexible depending on plant and business needs.
  • Go-to leader for prioritizing and distributing work
  • Will spend 30% of his/her time on the floor as a support resource.
  • Support Line teams by executing priority assignments from DDS meetings
  • Track and report maintenance measurement data as needed
  • Effectively communicate all downtime events and losses to the appropriate owners
  • Planning & Scheduling
  • Manage daily scheduling and effective resource allocation/prioritization including labor, repair parts, and outside services for their line(s)
  • Ensure PMs and WOs are executed safely and with appropriate quality
  • Communicate spending history and future spend prediction by work type and category to assist in the budget management process
  • Responsible for working with mechanics to lead the development and communication of Planned Maintenance job plans
  • Support assigned capital project early management tasks.
  • Must be able to record data in standardized format
  • Must be able to effectively interface with Purchasing, Stores, and Receiving.
  • Must be able to effectively identify work that is outside the scope of the capabilities of the general maintenance.
  • Must be able to communicate with, work with, and be resource to peers, other shifts, Shift Maintenance Leads, Maintenance Manager and Engineers
  • Must have knowledge of and demonstrate use GMP standards, Food and Human Safety and OSHA standards in all aspects of job, particularly in project planning

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Proven strong leadership skills to drive results and lead change in a complex manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability to take risks in decision-making and adjust to multiple demands, shifting work priorities, ambiguity, adversity, and change
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal, written, electronic, listening and feedback communications
  • Ability to train, coach and develop maintenance mechanics in problem solving activities
  • Ability to motivate team members and to help them develop pride and ownership of equipment
  • Good application of business judgement in decision making to achieve department and plant objectives
  • Demonstrated understanding of maintenance skills including lubrication, welding, machining, materials, basic electrical, and machine repair
  • Excellent planning, organization and prioritization skills with practical knowledge of Planning & Scheduling
  • Willingness to work alternative hours as required

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $68700.00 - $103200.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
