Purpose of the role
The Digital and Technology (D&T) team at General Mills executes a portfolio of projects ranging from strategic digital transformation to business-as-usual maintenance leveraging Technology and services from a variety of vendors. We are looking for an experienced, passionate, analytical individual with experience in cloud cost management within Vendor Management Office (VMO) to contribute
to the Global Digital Transformation initiative at General Mills.
The Sr. D&T Analyst – Cloud Cost Management - VMO is an individual contributor role responsible for ensuring that the variable Cloud related budgeting, planning and spend of the D&T organization are well accounted, tracked, managed and reported.
This role requires working across multiple internal and external teams and a close partnership with D&T FinOps, Project teams, Sourcing, Solution Managers and D&T Pillar Leads among others. This role will report into the D&T Manager – Vendor Management Office in India and collaborate across teams as needed.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- 6-10 years overall experience in IT, with at least 3+ years of continuous experience in a ITAM or FinOps environment; specifically associated with Cloud Cost Management.
- Deep understanding of financial budgets – ability to forecast, guide project teams and stakeholders, analyse, report and co-ordinate follow-ups as required to prepare a budget for cloud spend.
- Own and accurately produce the budget forecasts for sub-periods, track actuals and flag outliers in a proactive manner.
- Present relevant analysis to D&T Leadership and senior stakeholders providing visibility to efficiencies – using a mix of tools including spreadsheet, presentation and visualization tools.
- Ability to liaison and work lockstep with cross-functional teams like FinOps, Project managers, business teams, procurement/sourcing or any other as required from time to time for follow-ups, for identifying and resolving potential gaps to influence efficiency and improve accuracy of reporting.
- Ability to produce business intelligence working with advanced MS Excel and Looker to produce actionable analysis of data.
- Ability to work with SQL to query and produce results for analysis, is an added advantage.
- Be a collaborative team player, actively participate in initiatives, upskilling and transformation as opportunities present.
- Ensure standards based best practice, cadence, follow-up communications are deployed and followed in helping to ensure the above.
- The candidate should have a working knowledge of FinOps with an ability to keep the FinOps documentation up to date and participate in FinOps planning and ceremonies as needed.
- Have an automation savvy mindset with a view to automate workloads and strive for operational efficiency.
- Drive to independently take on ambitious initiatives, work on automation and quickly evolve workable solutions to commonly encountered situations.
- Working under the direction of the Vendor Manager, support the D&T community at General Mills with cloud cost related query resolution, continuous training, documentation and alignment of the D&T function with required practices from time to time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - 6-10 years overall experience in IT, with at least 3+ years of continuous experience in a ITAM or FinOps environment; specifically associated with Cloud Cost Management.
- Deep understanding of financial budgeting.
- Hands on experience in Billing and Financial workflows, including PO Generation, Invoice payments and monitoring and control – to enable identification and optimization of costs for D&T on technology spend.
- Experience working with spreadsheet, presentation and visualization tools to provide actionable insights.
- Ability to work with SQL to query databases is an added advantage.

- Proven communication skills – ability to communicate with the team and various stakeholders (oral & written)
- Ability to be a part of initiatives undertaken by the organization in the VMO space from time to time. History of teamwork and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done.
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to spot patterns using data analysis in spreadsheets and tools like Looker.
- Knowledge and proficiency with MS Office, Looker and preferably workflow tools like ServiceNow.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related field.
- Willingness to work flexible/extended hours in collaboration with multiple time zones.

- Financial and business acumen with a deep understanding of budgets, forecasts and actuals is crucial for this role.
- The ability to analyze data, provide meaningful visualizations and analysis for management action.
- Experience in analyzing cloud cost management from a financial reporting and cost saving/avoidance perspective is a must
- Keen interest in advancing / assisting FinOps practice through specific initiatives.
- Works well collaboratively across functional team boundaries.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex and transforming environment.
