The Digital and Technology team at General Mills stands as the largest and foremost unit, dedicated to exploring the latest trends and innovations in technology while leading the adoption of cutting-edge technologies across the organization. Collaborating closely with global business teams, the focus is on understanding business models and identifying opportunities to leverage technology for increased efficiency and disruption. Purpose of the role
This role will focus primarily on the design, development, and maintenance of backend services using the .NET framework, while also contributing to the full-stack development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of object-oriented programming, microservices architecture, and experience working with cloud platforms (ideally GCP). A passion for clean code, efficient development practices, and a collaborative team environment is essential.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain high-quality, scalable, and reliable backend services using C# and .NET technologies.
- Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate backend services with user interfaces.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance.
- Write clean, well-documented, and testable code adhering to coding standards and best practices.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of microservices architecture.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues efficiently and effectively.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in the .NET ecosystem.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment and efficient project execution.
- Contribute to the improvement of development processes and tools.
- Participate in agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
- Estimate effort and timelines for assigned tasks.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Full-time graduation from an accredited university with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in software development using C# and the .NET framework (ASP.NET, .NET Core/.NET 5+).
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
- Experience with RESTful API design and development.
- Experience with testing frameworks.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred).
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
