Function Overview
GIC Sales Strategy & Intelligence team partners with our global General Mills sales teams in providing them with analytical horsepower and enable business continuity so they can focus on core activities – Selling, driving distribution gains and optimizing merchandising plans to deliver sales volume targets. We enable customer, pricing & promotion strategies across the global markets through our focused capabilities of Sales Execution, Trade & Strategic Revenue Management and Category Management. Teams within function are aligned to the above focused capabilities for each of our markets and each team member specializes in domains of Advanced Analytics, Visual Insights & Planogramming.

Purpose of the role
The Category Management Consultant will play a crucial role in driving data-driven decision-making and enhancing category management capabilities across the organization. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. The consultant will leverage syndicated data sources and advanced analytical techniques to optimize assortment, distribution, shelf analytics, pricing, and go-to-market strategies..

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES | ||||||||||||
·Drive Analytics & Advance Capabilities (50% of the time) o Develop and implement advanced reporting solutions using syndicated data sources (Nielsen, IRI, and internal POS data). o Conduct comprehensive data analysis, including assortment, distribution, volume, and competitive analyses, to identify key trends and opportunities. o Perform in-depth shelf analytics, including pre- and post-analysis, category adjacency analysis, regional analysis, pricing optimization, and new product tracking. o Translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations for stakeholders, facilitating data-driven decision-making. o Manage and analyze large datasets, ensuring data accuracy and integrity. o Ability to handle large sets of data and covert it into actionable insights for stakeholders o Marketing & cross selling capabilities at organizational forums o Become an SME (Technical & Business) and partner with other experts to eliminate market knowledge gaps & drive success through collaboration. ·Stakeholder Influencing (30% of the time) o Demonstrate effective stakeholder management to deliver high level of customer satisfaction via tangible outputs o Agility of stakeholder engagement and management in the event of Organization Change or Repurposed goals o Clarity in thought and communication of project outcomes, process/project outline, risk management, planning, implementation, iterations and measures of success o Active and accelerated value creation - Identify business opportunities to find high impact business value, influence multiple stakeholders to see the value and effectively get a buy-in o Aligning and getting alignment of Senior Leadership to drive the vision by working through multiple stakeholders, both internal and external ·Inculcate Continuous Improvement Mindset (20% of the time) o Collaborate across boundaries in real time to learn and implement best-in-class techniques, pre-existing solutions, tools, platforms etc. o Maintain a lens of continuous improvement for the projects, process & larger team - cross functional lens and overseas partnership included o Design trainings based on needs of the team around key concepts, skills and applications and drive execution o Develop SMEs within the team (including self) and secure cost savings by driving process transformation o Participate actively in organizational initiatives and represent the function o Collaborate across the organization to identify synergies, drive standardization & create HMM | ||||||||||||
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS |
- Education – Full time graduation from an accredited university
- Minimum Degree Requirements: Bachelors
- Minimum years of related experience required: 4 - 6 years of Reporting & Analytics experience in Category Management within CPG industry
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferred Degree Requirements: Masters
- Preferred Major Area of Study: Business Management, Marketing, Retail
- Preferred years of related experience: 5 - 8 years of Reporting, Analytics & Planogram experience in Category Management within CPG industry
