POSITION OVERVIEW
The HSE Manager provides Safety leadership and strategic direction to the site. Responsible for leading the Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention strategies and ensuring implementation of the site’s Safety Management System (SMS). Provides support and technical assistance in the administration of and compliance with federal, state, local, and company HSE requirements. This position could require travel of approximately 10%.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Leads safety team at the site consisting of one Site Safety Leader and one technician Safety Blackhat.
- Drives SIF prevention through integration of Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles at the facility.
- Serves as the primary point of contact and resource for health & safety issues.
- Represents the Site during Regional/Cluster Health & Safety functions.
- Maintains site Health & Safety Budget.
- Stays abreast of regulatory changes that may impact the facility.
- Ensures completion and accuracy of all required Safety reports for the facility.
- Leads compliance assurance efforts by facilitating frequent Health & Safety self-assessments and tracks corrective action plans to completion.
- Provides leadership, direction, and prioritization for site Health & Safety objectives as part of the annual planning process.
- Owns some site safety programs and mentors, develops, and builds capability in other Site Health & Safety Process Owners.
- Monitors facility performance against Health, Safety and Environmental goals and objectives and communicates results to the Site Leadership Team and Central Safety Committee.
- Drives process improvement and technology solutions for health, safety and environmental processes throughout the plant.
- Reports company-required Health & Safety metrics at required frequencies in GSTEMS company database.
- Actively participate in change or project management to identify and address critical risk at the facility. Ensures site Health & Safety risk analyses are performed and communicated following Business Performance Management (BPM) escalation processes if applicable.
- Collaborates with other functional teams and participates in special projects as assigned.
- Provides support to the site to address regulatory inspections and complaints.
- Provides assistance in the analysis of significant incidents (fire, chemical releases, fatalities, severe or multiple injuries, etc.) and follow-up on corrective actions ensuring information is shared throughout the Company to prevent re-occurrence.
- Supports Worker’s Compensation processes at the facility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety or industrial hygiene or demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through comparable work experience
- 5 years of site-level HSE leadership and program management experience
- 2 years as leader of people
- Solid interpersonal, coaching, and project management skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills; proficient in English
- Proficient in computer software applications
- Working knowledge of local HSE regulations
- Experience in food and beverage manufacturing or related field
Environmental regulation or operational management knowledge preferred

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $91900.00 - $138000.00 / Annually.
