Function Overview

The GIC Supply Chain team manages end-to-end operations, encompassing planning, sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, and analytics. They strategically plan to meet market demands, optimize sourcing, ensure efficient production, and oversee the seamless movement of goods from production to delivery. The team employs advanced analytics throughout these processes, fostering adaptability and operational excellence. Purpose of the role

The Canada ESC Associate Relationship Manager is responsible for building and executing ESC strategies in support of the Canada OU. The role is accountable for delivering manufacturing solutions to support business growth and innovation, supplier performance and relationship management, business stakeholder engagement and HMM. The individual will work closely with the Canada supply chain team, ITQ, business teams and broader cross functional teams in order to deliver ESC solutions for business needs.

High-Level Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Sourcing and Procurement: This role is responsible for a significant portion of the company's spending in Canada ($50-100MM). This requires strategic thinking, market analysis, and strong negotiation skills to secure favourable terms and conditions with suppliers.
  • Network Strategy & Execution: The individual will create and implement the External Supply Chain (ESC) network strategy, aligning it with the overall business objectives in Canada. This involves understanding logistics, manufacturing capabilities, and market dynamics.
  • Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): A significant portion of the role focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers. This includes performance management, collaboration on innovation, and conflict resolution.
  • Innovation and New Product Introduction (NPI): The role is crucial in identifying and securing production capabilities for new product innovation. This requires proactive market research and a deep understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Compliance and Governance: Adherence to corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and accounting practices is paramount. This ensures ethical and legal compliance in all procurement activities.
  • Technology Utilization: The role requires proficiency in using Source-to-Pay (S2P) tools and processes to streamline procurement operations and improve efficiency.

· Market Intelligence: Staying abreast of market trends, benchmarking competitors, and understanding industry best practices is essential for making informed sourcing decisions.

Budget & Process - Ensure supply/services and budget and is appropriately managed, the sourcing process is followed, and standards are maintained

Specific Responsibilities & Implications:

  • Management of $50-100MM spend: This indicates a high level of financial responsibility and accountability for cost optimization and value creation.
  • ESC Network Strategy: This requires strong analytical, planning, and communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams (XOMs, OA, Logistic Consultants). Create and deliver the ESC Network strategy to deliver Canada business plans

Compliance -Comply with corporate and regulatory policies and accounting practices

Source to Pay process – Leverage source to pay tools and process across the ESC Category

  • E2E Supplier Performance Management: This involves setting key performance indicators (KPIs), monitoring supplier performance, and taking corrective actions when necessary. Accountable for E2E supplier performance management in accordance with business needs
  • HMM Pipeline and Annual Targets: This refers to building a High-Margin Manufacturing pipeline and achieving specific targets for cost reduction, efficiency improvements, or other key metrics. Lead and deliver HMM pipeline and annual targets
  • Sourcing Production Capabilities for New Product Innovation: This requires a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, technologies, and supplier capabilities.
  • Execution of ESC Sourcing OGSM initiatives: This implies alignment with overall organizational goals, strategies, and metrics (OGSM - Objectives, Goals, Strategies, Measures).

Skills and Experience Required:

This role demands a highly experienced professional with a strong background in procurement, supply chain management, and strategic sourcing. Specific skills include:

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement long-term strategies.
  • Negotiation and Contract Management: Securing favorable terms and conditions with suppliers.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Financial Acumen: Understanding and managing budgets, costs, and financial performance.
  • Project Management: Managing multiple projects simultaneously and delivering results on time and within budget.
  • Analytical Skills: Analyzing data, identifying trends, and making informed decisions.

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering
  • 3-5 years of Sourcing / Purchasing / Supply Chain/Manufacturing/Engineering experience
  • Ability to lead through change
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams to drive business results
  • Relevant skills and experience in complex contract negotiations, bidding strategies, supplier management, risk management, market analysis, financial analysis, project management
  • Interpersonal Effectiveness - ability to collaborate, influence and motivate others. Build and maintain strong relationships. Strong communication skills to adapt to different audiences.
