Job description Summary

The Intelligent Manufacturing Software Engineer will be expected to demonstrate success in software project delivery experience in leading technical efforts developing automated testing using a variety of tools, languages, frameworks, and technologies with the primary focus of developing and maintaining test plans and test cases for all major applications, including functional testing, integration testing and regression testing. This opportunity includes manual, automation, performance testing of various software products, defect tracking, and documenting test cases clearly for each product, module and components by product functionality. The Software Test Engineer will be responsible for executing test cases and reporting defects into ADO.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with product owner, architect, and the team to test secure, reliable, and scalable software solutions
  • Full lifecycle application development using standard frameworks and coding standards/patterns for test automation
  • Efficiently produce well-organized, optimized, and well-documented source code for test automation
  • Design and develop code into independent reusable components
  • Decompose requirements (typically user stories) into meaningful tasks with estimations
  • Work closely with senior developers and software engineers to gain additional knowledge and expertise.
  • Perform code reviews to suggest, encourage, and support coding best practices
  • Provide application support to software running in production
  • Proactively engage in the identification / remediation of software issues related to code or solutions quality, security, and/or pattern/frameworks and software usability or end user related issues
  • Promote improvements in programming practices.
  • Proactively engage in the identification / remediation of software issues related to code or solutions quality, security, and/or pattern/frameworks and software usability or end user related issues
  • Strong Knowledge of maintaining and debugging live software systems. Dedicatedly engage in the remediation of software issues related to code/solutions quality and/or security
  • Provides guidance and mentoring of fellow software developers and other team members
  • Possess technical writing knowledge around system design specification and user documentation of software systems and ensure that technical documentation meets GM standards
  • Understand and maintain compliance with GM standards and industry standard methodology
  • Holds themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors. Models GM behaviors and builds a winning culture.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Minimum 7 years of overall testing experience.
  • Expertise in evaluating testing requirements for projects.
  • Coordinate and actively participate in project meetings during software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to develop software test plan(s), build test estimates, and execute testing of software applications developed using various technologies (ADO).
  • Document and interpret business and technical requirements for testing utilizing various development methodologies (e.g. Agile, Scrum, Iterative, Waterfall, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of industry standard automated testing tools, practices, and software and/or Performance testing tools.
  • The Test engineer needs to have proven experience in developing test automation framework for front to back application testing.
  • Must have API testing experience utilizing Ready API.
  • Design and execute SQL queries for data validation and test execution.
  • Experience with testing sophisticated, multi-platform, distributed applications
  • Effective communication skills to articulate testing result data to multiple audiences.

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to onsite at the Austin IT Innovation Center North - Austin IT Innovation Center North three times per week, at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business.

  • Compensation: The expected base compensation for this role is: $93,400 - $149,200 . Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
