The Role
GM's Design Fabrication Engineering team is looking for a motivated NX Designer with knowledge of fabrication processes and materials to convert early Studio A surface into three dimensional models for fabrication. We need a team player dedicated to a philosophy of designing to simplify assembly and to reduce material costs. This is technical work, but independent judgement and creative initiative are needed to be successful in this role. If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you!
What You'll Do
- Build designs that control costs and achieve productivity improvements
- Drive first time quality in the design of models
- Maintain awareness of quality standards, communicate department quality goals and use resources to seek quality problems
- Build and maintain good working relationships with Shop, Project Management, and Studio Personnel
- Connect with other departments to implement standard methodologies, resolve problems and sustain consistent performance to objectives
- Interpret and analyze work orders, drawings, and parts list
Additional Job Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelors degree or 4 years related working experience in lieu of education required
- 5+ years related working experience required
- Proficient in Siemens NX (Unigraphics) required
- Experience using and navigating TeamCenter required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools required
- Knowledge of additional CAD systems such as Solidworks, Polyworks, etc.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Knowledge of specialty/concept vehicle build and fabrication practices is preferred
- Knowledge of NX drawing package preferred
