Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM Global Technical Center - Design Center in Warren, MI on a full-time basis.

The Role:

A Solution Architect is a professional who designs and oversees the implementation of specific solutions to address a business problem. This professional is responsible for designing and organizing the structure of a system, ensuring this system meets the requirements of the organization seamlessly. This position is needed to support Design Fabrication Operations (DFO) Stakeholders, Design Studios, and internal GM Customers in bringing various property build types to completion. This intended system development is targeted to support a wide range of complexity, ranging from full concept vehicle development to individual parts for requests.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interface directly with internal and external customers to identify recommended system implementations

  • Solution and application architecture and evaluation of alternative approaches

  • Restructuring IT processes and organization

  • Evaluating current organization’s IT and software architecture

  • Document current system and identify steps for initiation of designs

  • Assessing and implementing IT systems

  • Evaluating products, such as core systems

  • Developing technical concepts and designing of software solutions

  • Assessing quality assurance for IT implementation

  • Develop customized solutions for the organizational needs and share limitations of proposed solutions

  • Provide a detailed outline of system requirements for the current and future system

  • Define future system upgrades and or future additions with minimal to no disruption

  • Provide solutions for fixing the system in the event of a crash or system failure

  • Develop a backup system

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

· Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or Advanced degree in Information Technology, System Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field

· Must be graduating between August 2024 and July 2026

What will give you a Competitive Edge (Preferred qualifications):

  • Capable of presenting and collaborating cross functionally with all Design Studios, Engineering and DFO

  • Systems or IT background in maintaining SharePoint Systems

  • Experience of working with UAW or Hourly trades

Student Stipend: GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2024 Student Program.

Pay Transparency: The salary range for this role is $4,700 - $4,900, dependent upon class status and degree.
