This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, MI on a full-time basis.
The Role
In this position you will support the Emissions and Energy laboratory as a capital project manager for new and existing hardware projects required in the lab. You will be responsible for the execution of these projects within the project milestones and capital financial requirements. You will be part of the Global Laboratory Systems Engineering team focusing on new capital equipment projects as well as problem solving Emission and EV vehicle dynamometer break/ fix issues that arise from existing equipment in the lab. This role would be considered a subject matter expert for dynamometer and interfaces related to vehicle emission and EV testing.
Engineer will develop vehicle dynamometer and associated equipment standards and procedures, BOM's and coordinate integration and installation of test systems, resolve equipment issues, improve test uptime and ensure test data quality.
Selected candidate will be responsible for attending daily operational meetings to determine where help is needed and work with Maintenance, OPS, Lab Engineering and Quality organizations to determine priority and work cross functionally to drive resolution to issues. Some of this work may be in a form of running experiments on existing equipment to determine where the problems may be.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
All work completed in accordance with GM safety practices
Technical focus is on Vehicle Emissions and EV range dynamometer equipment and test support systems.
Lead and support Projects that Specify, Source, Engineer, Integrate, Install, Troubleshoot and Commission new Capital Test Equipment into Global Systems Laboratories and Test Sites.
Provide operational support and analysis for production systems
Provide Global support in areas of expertise
Analyze complex data sets, identify trends, offsets, outliers.
Develop predictive analytical diagnostics for machinery.
Design technical experiments and conduct Failure Mode and Root Cause Analysis
Provide and maintain accurate, complete project records
Support proposed emission and EV range regulations and provide technical comments from the emission and EV testing perspective
Additional Job Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor's of Science in Engineering
5+ years experience in an industrial or laboratory setting in Emission and / or EV testing.
Demonstrated success in meeting project quality, timing, and cost milestones
Demonstrated success in handling multiple, simultaneous projects
Experience with equipment that supports vehicle chassis or dynamometer testing and analytical laboratories
Experience with automation systems that support vehicle chassis or dynamometer testing
Demonstrated interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
Highly developed oral and written communication skills
Proficient with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Project)
Proficient with AutoCAD, schematics and redlines.
Experience working with equipment suppliers
Experience in multi-disciplinary project management
Demonstrated ability to identify and remove roadblocks
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Experience in Project Managment including Safety Contract Management, G-risk, G-comply, Design for Health & Safety, and Management of Change
Familiarity with Emission and EV range test regulations
Familiar with chassis, engine, or transmission dynamometers
