Job Description

The Object Avoidance – Rear/Lateral Performance Calibration Engineer will be responsible to deliver production calibrations maximizing feature performance. The position involves hands on vehicle testing, data analysis, simulation and performance optimization to deliver Object Avoidance – Rear/Lateral features that provide customers with assistance enhancing the vehicle ownership experience.

You will be responsible for developing Integration solutions to meet vehicle requirements. Full understanding of the VDP process. This activity includes problem solving with support of the Integration leaders. Work requires an understanding of engineering concepts. Has the ability to work with limited direction, independently, and make decisions based on general practices and procedures. Proficiency in Project Planning. This activity includes creativity and initiative in independent problem solving and leading multi-functional teams for issue resolution. Exercises independent judgement and creative solution development with minimal direction from EGM.

Performance Calibration Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Develop optimal calibration values for assigned features, and ensure goals are met at key points in the development process
  • Lead the development and issue resolution for parking feature performance
  • Build, maintain and execute calibration development plans for assigned features
  • Participate in feature, calibration, simulation and algorithm workgroups to establish/improve features and requirements to meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Travels as necessary for development trips and performance buy-off rides
  • Build a collaborative environment working closely with other departments to ensure features are properly integrated into vehicle

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or a related engineering degree
  • Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience in an automotive or related industry
  • Experience with data analysis and the associated tools
  • Ability to root cause complex problems
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others, and ability to establish Peer Relationships
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and ability to operate test vehicles
  • Experience with simulation, HIL, and mathematical modeling
  • Experience with radar simulation and Python.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with vehicle or component development, integration and diagnostics
  • Understanding of the use of vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition systems
  • Experience with radars, lidar, camera or similar sensor systems
  • Simulink & MATLAB tool/script development proficiency

This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, MI three times per week, at minimum.
