Job Description

Work Arrangement

This role is categorized as on-site. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Advanced Technical Center in Shanghai, China five times per week.

The Role -

This role demands a strategic and innovative approach to drive cost-effective systems development for China market, ensuring the rapid and high-quality integration of these systems into GM vehicles. The Manager for VIV department will also be accountable for the overall quality and performance of the China Engineering function.

What You’ll Do -

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the large team (85 engineers) of Vehicle Integration & Validation team in China, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Product Launch Success: Oversee end-to-end vehicle integration and validation activities, ensuring the successful launch of new products in the Chinese market, meeting stringent quality and regulatory standards.
  • Systems Development: Spearhead the development and integration of China unique systems, driving cost-effective innovation and ensuring seamless integration into GM Vehicles.
  • Quality Assurance: Champion a culture of quality within the China Engineering function, ensuring adherence to rigorous quality standards and processes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across GM's global organization, including engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and program teams.
  • Talent Development: Cultivate a high-performing team by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent within the Vehicle Integration & Validation function.
  • Technology Advancement: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, driving the adoption of innovative solutions to enhance product development and validation processes.
  • Global Alignment: Establish and maintain strong communication channels with GM's North American Vehicle Intelligence platform & SDV2.0 teams, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • New Vehicle EE Platform Implementation: Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive plan for bringing SDV2.0 technology to the Chinese market, leveraging insights gained from the North American visit.

  • Proven Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of vehicle integration and validation processes, IVI & AD systems, and automotive engineering principles.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute strategic plans that align with GM's global vision and objectives.
  • Cross-Cultural Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders across different cultures and geographies.
