Job Description

Remote/Hybrid - This role is based remotely but if you live within a 50-mile radius of [Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Warren, Pontiac, or Milford], you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum.

The Role
The Media Ecosystem, Partnerships, and Innovation Manager performs a key role in maintaining GM’s position as a global leader in the media landscape. The selected candidate will lead a team that will help build and manage media strategy and operations across automotive tiers (i.e., national, regional, local dealer), manage relationships with GM’s key strategic media vendors (e.g., Disney, Ampersand, Google, Meta, Amazon, and others), and build and maintain a roadmap for continuous media innovation.

This person will collaborate with in-house media activation, brand strategy, research, analytics, and audience teams to ensure operations are consistent across all GM brands and across the globe. This is a great opportunity for someone capable of bringing big-picture thinking to drive GM media approaches forward, while also being able to get tactical and move ideas forward from concept to reality.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Ensure strategies for more efficient and effective media planning, buying, and activation scale across automotive tiers including, but not limited to: leveraging consistent audiences, defining swim lanes and coordination, ensuring proper measurement, facilitating effective coordination between media agencies, and helping to define appropriate channel messaging

  • Develop and implement process for auditing adherence to cross-tier guidelines

  • Work with Media Operations team to leverage technology platforms across tiers

  • Lead GM’s relationship and annual negotiation with key global media partners such as Disney, Ampersand, Google, Meta, and Amazon (including defining annual key partner list, setting up and leading appropriate regular touchpoints, communicating GM media priorities, negotiating partnership benefits available globally, organizing cross-functional engagements)

  • Identify and explore emerging media themes to enable future success and competitive advantages

  • Develop innovation learning agenda, manage innovation budget, identify tests across brands, help activate campaigns, and work with analytics and research to drive insights and inform future strategy

  • Manage and develop the careers of direct reports and team members

  • Collaborate across projects with multiple internal teams such as GM Research, Analytics, Legal, Purchasing, etc.

  • Represent GM across multiple industry groups such as the Association of National Advertisers, World Federation of Advertisers, Interactive Advertising Bureau, Media Rating Council, etc.

  • Create frameworks and toolkits that will allow global markets to leverage the team’s work

  • Create and support the development of presentations for executive leadership teams

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business Administration, or related field

  • 7+ years of experience in paid media and/or digital marketing; agency and/or automotive experience preferred

  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Visio, and Excel

  • Demonstrated experience leading a team

  • Proven experience leading external relationships with media partners

  • Ability to manage complex initiatives requiring the input of multiple stakeholders

  • Ability to listen to and understand the needs of internal/external stakeholders and in turn develop thoughtful solutions

  • Desire to remain current in the media space through ongoing education and skill development

  • Excellent time management skills – the ability to effectively and efficiently use your time to focus on the most impactful activities and challenge those that distract from the identified goal

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining graceful under pressure

  • Proactive self-starter who can work well both independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels

  • This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate

Compensation:

  • The salary range for this role is ($116,000 - $181,600). The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
