GM Global Security Organization

The organization is charged with enabling the business through globally delivered Risk Management and Security services aligned to the enterprise risk and threat profile. Accountable for maintaining a secure organization through strategic alignment, structured governance and process operation.

About the Role

The Security Intelligence Analyst (SIA) is responsible for identifying and communicating, both verbally and in writing, early warnings and other information to GM Security and internal stakeholders. The SIA must be able to apply his/her experience in various system and networking technologies, prepare and distribute security intelligence information gathered from open source intelligence, media and social media sites. The SIA will contribute to special projects supporting both tactical and strategic security business objectives. Demonstration of leadership abilities in a large corporate environment, as well as knowledge in both national and international current events, including an understanding of the potential impact on security and the affected business will be critical to success.

As a member of the Global Security Team, the Security Intelligence Analyst will contribute to GM’s mission by performing the following duties:

  • Analyze and report on existing and emerging security threats where GM and/or its suppliers conduct business
  • Develop and/or update travel security guidance, risk assessments, situational reports and other intelligence products
  • Document and escalate security related issues and provide general assistance to internal customers using prescribed protocols in a timely manner
  • Update records and input data utilizing the Microsoft Office suite (e.g. Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Conduct analysis and interpretation of security related reporting and performance data
  • Manage projects from initiation to completion including development of new solutions, services and protocols
  • Use Geographical Information System (GIS) software to create maps demonstrating impact of security events or other natural disasters
  • Provide security assistance for special events at the GM Headquarters building as requested
  • Support the Global Security staff with research and special projects on an as-needed basis
  • Collaborate and support local law enforcement, private security and intelligence communities during daily activities and special events
  • Document, evaluate, research and disseminate all threats to call centers and dealerships
  • Assist GM investigations through ad hoc research, case maintenance and case closures

Additional Job Description

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in security, criminal justice or social sciences from an accredited university or college
  • 1-2 years’ experience in security intelligence analysis or a related security field desired
  • Flexibility and willingness to work alternating shifts including first, second and third shift, weekends and holidays
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to quickly understand and summarize large amounts of information
  • Strong General Motors service and quality orientation
  • Ability to use good judgment, demonstrate flexibility and act in a decisive manner in emergency situations
  • Highly motivated, positive “self-starter” able to operate with limited supervision in a small team environment
  • Ability to communicate with personnel at all levels of the organization and to operate in a professional, confidential work environment
  • Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously
  • Experience using Global Information System (GIS) mapping software such as ESRI ArcGIS preferred but not required
  • Proficient in the use of computers and software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook and Access), social media applications (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.), and various web-based applications
