Job Description

Hybrid: This position requires you to work on-site 3 times a week (Tue to Thu)

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

This Product Quality Manager position will be responsible for the Product Development Quality & Continuous Improvement activities of the GMSA Premium Vehicles (i.e. Mid-Size Truck and Imports), the implementation of Quality Processes, Best Practices, and Initiatives, and for the development, tracking, and execution of Sufficiency Plans to attain Quality Readiness and Excellence.

Roles

  • Voice of Quality to program execution team (PET) and lead continuous improvement process of these products (CPIP).
  • Assess and ensure that all quality targets and program deliverables are being met. Escalate to executive leadership when assistance is needed.
  • Support global launch processes as defined within the Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP)
  • Educate, train, and communicate Product Development Quality (PDQ) and Current Product Improvement (CPIP) processes to team members, as required.
  • Coach and develop team members to develop talent, drive engagement, improve performance, and achieve results.

Product Development Quality

  • Execute the Global Program Quality Plan Process (GPQP), including program reviews, product and competitor’s assessment, quality audits and rides, among others.
  • Participate in the GPS (Global Propulsion Systems) reviews as required
  • Participate and support Launch Team activities to ensure program quality business plans, metrics, and program quality readiness deliverables are being addressed.
  • Review and communicate Warranty and Voice of Customer glide path charts and pareto of issues to launch team and continuous improvement team
  • Escalate and support when executive leadership is required utilizing the most appropriate forum
  • Lead and provide quality input to design change process based on the review cadence, including customer requirements, lessons learned, Warranty, Voice of the Customer, and vehicle audits.
  • Participate to Engineering vehicle’s ride and execute quality assessment rides.
  • Participate in cost saving initiatives affecting quality.
  • Support Launch Excellence initiatives.
  • Plan, implement, and execute the quality fleet evaluation process (CTF)
    • Provide CTF’s vehicle support including expediting shipment, delivery, and assignment to priority drivers for the support of issue identification and mileage accumulation (as required)
    • Establish a Priority Drivers List with appropriate launch team members and apply global process improvement
    • Lead CTF Quality Problem Identification Process including issue communication, alarm and escalation process, problem tracking, and ensure effective countermeasures
    • Communicate CTF issues to the Launch Team, and those determined to be appropriate, to Issue Resolution Team (IRT) members for entry into the appropriate problem tracking system
    • Support Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) monitoring on CTF vehicles
    • Manage the Captured Test Fleet Retrofit process minimizing the number of required retrofits. Approve all retrofits to be done outside the assembly plant (salable vehicles only). Maintain official retrofit list, worksheets, vehicle information, procedures, part numbers, total quantity, cost, and final disposal plan.

Current Product Improvement Process (CPIP)

  • Track vehicle quality performance (Warranty, Compass, QFS, QAS, Consumer Report, Reliability & Durability, etc).
  • Conduct technical Data Analysis & Reporting.
  • Develop, drive, and track actions to improve Warranty and Compass.
  • Drive regional and global collaboration to achieve the Regional Quality Targets.
  • Track and drive Frontloading activities for N&M Programs
  • Implement Global Processes, Initiatives, and Best Practices in Product Development Quality and Continuous Improvement

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor degree completed in Engineering
  • Advanced or Fluent English
  • Requires knowledge of Program Quality Processes, Current Product improvement processes, and/or technical problem solving methodologies
  • Experience in Quality, Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, or Program Management, etc

What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preference Qualifications)

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business Administration is a plus
  • Leadership experience
