Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Principal – Energy Services in our Houston, Texas office. The position will help us expand regional and global energy market business opportunities, position Geosyntec’s energy projects footprint in key geographies, grow our permitting, site investigation/remediation, carbon sequestration, and geotechnical services, and build teams in support of clients primarily within the Energy Sector. You must have an entrepreneurial attitude, enthusiasm for supporting business development, and a technical background which will expand Geosyntec’s market share.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collaboration and mentorship are cornerstones of Geosyntec’s culture. We expect that you’d work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also be asked to take on project leadership, staff mentorship and development responsibilities. Some key responsibilities may include:

  • Developing and implementing market strategies to drive growth in the energy sector;
  • Supporting safety program excellence and a positive culture in health & safety;
  • Leading client programs and relationships in the Energy, Oil & Gas, and Industrial markets;
  • Helping to lead our Energy and Oil & Gas Market Sector Initiative;
  • Providing technical leadership on strategic energy initiatives;
  • Securing energy projects and portfolios across the capital project lifecycle;
  • Leading cross-functional teams to deliver integrated planning and engineering services for capital projects across North America and globally;
  • Supporting cross-functional teams and services to develop strategies and support planning for clients navigating global climate policies and energy markets;
  • Support operational and project delivery success throughout the Gulf Region;
  • Help us grow key practice areas by helping to recruit key hires throughout Texas, Louisianna, and other key locations;
  • Help us track large (including global) RFPs from energy, chemical/industrial, and oil & gas companies;
  • Collaborating with our technical leads and subsidiaries to drive project delivery excellence and market growth, ensuring our clients are aware of our technical capabilities;
  • Leading multiple projects within the scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensuring quality standards on project deliverables;
  • Effectively stewarding and building client relationships to repeat business;
  • Developing business opportunities with new and existing clients and preparing associated proposals and go-to-market strategies.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or environmental science. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same field. (preferred)
  • Leadership courses and training (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 15 years (20+ preferred) of experience working within the Energy Sector or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience developing capital projects related to the planning, financing, engineering, and construction throughout the project lifecycle. (required)
  • Experience in targeting and securing large energy infrastructure projects and portfolios of sites. (required)
  • Experience in managing and directing large energy infrastructure and remediation projects (including engineering teams). (required)
  • Program management experience for clients in the Energy, Industrial, and Oil & Gas industries.
  • Experience managing the overall delivery of projects including project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management. (required).
  • Operations management and growth experience.
  • Experience in conducting technical due diligence for seller and buyer sides, advisory services for industrial portfolios, development of recommendations and implementation of best-fit energy technology solutions. (required)
  • Experience with national and international policies and standards. (required)
  • Overnight travel may be required.
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
  • Candidates must currently hold and maintain valid U.S. work authorization. New H-1B visa lottery and employment based green card sponsorship are not available for this position.
