Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Water Resources Engineer or Scientist in our Boca Raton, FL office. Apply your academic and practical knowledge to real-world situations while solving our clients’ water resources challenges in stormwater management,flooding, and resiliency. The position will focus on using hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling, geospatial data analysis, and best management practices (BMPs) to develop innovative solutions for flood mitigation, while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling;
  • Geospatial data management, analysis, and visualization;
  • Water resources sustainability and resiliency planning;
  • Watershed and stormwater management design and analysis;
  • Floodplain mapping and flood protection designs;
  • Drainage design and permitting;
  • Water quality assessments;
  • Reviewing state and federal regulations & permits pertaining to surface water;
  • Fieldwork such as site visits/field operations oversight, stormwater infrastructure inventories and surface water sampling; and
  • Preparation of technical reports, calculations, drawings, tables, figures, specifications, and proposals.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, water resources, or biosystems engineering, environmental science or related field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in water resources engineering. (preferred)
  • Certification as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT). (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
  • Experience using GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS. (required)
  • Academic knowledge of surface water hydrology & hydraulics. (required)
  • Prior research or professional experience with surface water/H&H modeling. (preferred)
  • Experience with modeling software such as ICPR, SWMM, or HEC-RAS. (preferred)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
  • Candidates must currently hold and maintain valid U.S. work authorization. New H-1B visa lottery and employment based green card sponsorship are not available for this position.
