Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Staff Process Engineer in our environmental sciences and engineering practice in our Oakland, California office. The position will apply academic knowledge and practical experience to real-world situations related to process engineering, industrial water treatment, municipal water treatment, and landfill leachate treatment, for a diverse national private and public sector client base, while also learning and expanding the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performing water/wastewater process engineering design on a variety of project types and geographies.
  • Designing and evaluating the results of laboratory treatability studies.
  • Process engineering.
  • Applying innovative treatment processes for mitigating polluting contaminants, including emerging contaminants.
  • Developing technical report plans for sampling, feasibility analysis, and design basis.
  • Developing engineer’s cost estimate analysis for treatment systems.
  • Performing permitting support with local, regional, and national permitting agencies.
  • Developing construction documents, including bid forms and technical specifications.
  • Conducting field investigations, sampling, O&M, and construction support services.
  • Prepare presentations and supporting documents for client and regulatory meetings and correspondence.
  • Task level responsibility for scoping, performing, managing, and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments.
  • Scope and prepare cost estimates for client proposals.
  • Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, play a role in supporting lead generation and business development.
  • Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering, or related field. (required)
  • Advanced degree the same. (preferred)
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, if applicable. (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of related experience, including designing, conducting, and evaluating treatment systems and analysis of environmental data or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to water/wastewater treatment. (preferred)
  • Task and assistant project management experience. (preferred)
  • Experience in assisting with management of clients. (preferred)
  • Experience in preparing client proposals and assisting with business development. (preferred)
  • Prior experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
  • Experience with modeling and design software tools such as EPANET, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD. (preferred)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $89,440/year / Maximum Salary: $111,800/year (Oakland, CA)
