Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Professional Water Resources Engineer or Scientist in our Burnaby, BC office. The position will work on complex projects including mining related studies, dam related analyse stormwater infrastructure design, flood mitigation practices, hydrologic/hydraulic analysis including dam breach studies and floodplain mapping, surface water, watershed, and stormwater runoff monitoring/modeling, industrial and construction site permitting support and inspections.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performing and overseeing detailed hydrologic and hydraulic studies; for a range of projects from watershed level studies to mining projects to floodplain analyses to stormwater management work for land development projects;
- Applying innovative hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software, from 1-D to 3-D transport models;
- Floodplain mapping and flood protection designs;
- In-stream and urban stormwater water quality monitoring and modeling;
- Environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, auditing, resource optimization, and permitting;
- Field investigations and construction support services;
- Developing construction documents, including engineering drawings and technical specifications;
- Preparing erosion and sediment control designs;
- Interacting with client representatives;
- Directing multi-disciplinary project teams;
- Task and project-level responsibility for scoping, performing, managing and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments;
- Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, play a role supporting lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring; and
- Help broaden our reputation via publishing and visibility at prominent industry conferences.
- Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering, natural resources or other science, with emphasis on water resources or closely related discipline. (required)
- Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
- Professional registration (i.e., P.Eng). (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- At least 5 years of research or related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Experience with modeling and design software tools such as EPA-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS. (preferred)
- Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
- Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
- Valid Canadian driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
Below is the range that we in good faith believe is the potential compensation for this role at the time of this posting and is only applicable for jobs to be performed within British Columbia. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.
- Minimum Salary: $82,495
- Maximum Salary: $118,370
