Gradient, a Geosyntec Company, is seeking a motivated and resourceful Mid-Level Human Health Risk Assessor to apply knowledge of toxicology and chemistry to address human and environmental risks at legacy waste sites and in consumer products. You will have the opportunity to join our growing practice in one of our Charlottesville, VA office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct human health risk assessments for contaminated sites as well as hazard and safety assessments of consumer products. Specific tasks may include data analysis, exposure assessment and modeling, dose estimation, creating risk tables, and report writing.
- Conduct literature searches and critically review and evaluate scientific studies regarding toxicology, exposure assessment, and related areas to assess relevance and reliability for use supporting human health risk assessments.
- Assist in the preparation of deliverables (reports, manuscripts, memoranda, presentations, project proposals, agency comments).
- Opportunities to manage small- to medium-sized projects.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences or engineering, toxicology, or related sciences. (required)
- Advanced degree in environmental sciences or engineering, toxicology, or related sciences. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- At least 5 (7+ preferred) years of environmental consulting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills. (required)
- Excellent quantitative analytical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel. (required)
- Knowledge of human health risk assessment frameworks under federal and/or state regulatory bodies. (required)
- Knowledge of exposure and dose-response modeling methods and tools (e.g., benchmark dose [BMD] modeling. (preferred)
- Expertise in statistics, field sampling, ecological risk assessment, air modeling, and other exposure assessment techniques. (preferred)
- Knowledge of contaminants of emerging concern (PFAS, endocrine disruptors, microplastics). (preferred)
This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.
- Minimum Salary: $89,808/year / Maximum Salary: $122,000/year (Seattle, WA, Boston, MA)
