Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Water Resources Engineer or Scientist in Cambridge, Waterloo, or Guelph, Ontario, you will work on complex projects providing water resources solutions for a wide range of clients. Services would include a wide range of project types including water management support for mining and remediation projects, stormwater management planning studies and design; low impact development (green infrastructure) planning and design, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses including dam breach studies and floodplain mapping, surface water, watershed and stormwater runoff monitoring and modelling, industrial and construction site permitting support and inspections.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Team member on single discipline and multi-disciplinary project teams. Opportunities to coordinate/manage project teams;
- Providing technical input for delivery of water resources projects to our public, mining, industrial, private and First Nations clients;
- Performing and overseeing detailed hydrologic and hydraulic studies, assessments, modelling, preliminary and detail design, cost estimates, specifications and input to contract documents;
- Preparation of engineering calculations, designs and data analysis;
- Preparation of technical reports to communicate design intent, data analysis and field investigation findings;
- Application of innovative hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software, from 1-D to 3-D flow and transport models;
- Floodplain and flood hazard mapping studies;
- Developing flood protection designs;
- In-stream and urban stormwater water quality monitoring and modeling;
- Developing and executing field investigation programs and construction support services;
- Preparing erosion and sediment control designs;
- Interacting with client representatives and agencies;
- Task and project-level responsibility for scoping, performing, managing and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments;
- Supervise and mentor early career professionals; and
- Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, play a role supporting lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering or natural resources science, with emphasis on water resources or closely related discipline. (required)
- Advanced degree in environmental or civil engineering or natural resources science, with emphasis on water resources or closely related discipline. (preferred)
- Professional engineering registration (i.e. P.Eng.) within provincial guidelines. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- At least 5 years of research or related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Experience with modeling and design software tools such as EPA-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS. (preferred)
- Valid Canadian driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
- Experience in mine and industrial water management (preferred)
- Collection and interpretation of climatologic and hydrometric data, including statistical/frequency analysis and the development of climate projections (preferred)
- Familiarity of water balance and continuous simulation modelling (preferred)
Below is the range that we in good faith believe is the potential compensation for this role at the time of this posting and is only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.
- Minimum Salary: $78,565 / Maximum Salary: $112,735 (Waterloo, Cambridge, or Guelph, Ontario)
