Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Geospatial Analyst in our Vancouver, BC office. The position will apply academic knowledge and solid understanding and experience with standard practices and techniques used when working with data and GIS projects to support and manage projects that include environmental assessments, groundwater remediation, water and natural resources, geotechnical construction, and more.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Designing, developing, and managing project-specific relational database applications using enterprise (MS SQL Server) and Spatial Database Engine (SDE) database software;
- Designing, developing, and producing maps and other data visualization outputs using Esri ArcGIS Pro; Automating routine GIS tasks in ArcGIS Pro using Python and other tools
- Developing comprehensive workflows and metadata to automate compilation of data from multiple sources and serve data to maps, reports and other tools;
- Compiling, verifying, analyzing, and reporting large and diverse datasets;
- Hosting data and applications using ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS;
- Designing GIS projects in Esri ArcGIS Pro (Version 3.x) to store, visualize, and analyze spatial data;
- Developing interactive tools, maps, dashboards, workflows, and applications (e.g., Experience Builder) in Esri ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS;
- Utilizing geographic positioning system (GPS) equipment for data collection;
- Developing and maintaining workflow and metadata documentation; Understanding data visualization and creating high-quality cartographic products for client deliverables;
- Participation in client-needs analysis; and developing current knowledge of GIS technology and software; and
- Interacting with internal and external clients to support database management and data visualization for environmental engineering, and geoscience projects.
- Troubleshooting GIS and other data issues.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in geography, computer science, science, or geology. (required)
- Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Proficiency with Esri ArcGIS Pro. (required)
- Knowledge of different web mapping platforms (ArcGIS Online, Portal for ArcGIS), Survey123, ArcGIS Field Maps, and/or other GIS-focused field collection tools. (required)
- Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server. (preferred)
- Knowledge of server architecture and web technology. (preferred)
- Experience with and ability to code, automate processes using Google Earth Engine platform. (Preferred)
- Ability to write complex queries and automate routine processes (e.g. Python, SQL, R, JavaScript). (preferred)
- Experience with 3D subsurface visualization software (LeapFrog, Earth Volumetric Studio (EVS) etc.) (preferred)
- Experience using graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator) to support map and figure production. (preferred)
- Experience with the front-end processes of collecting field data with various GPS units and the process of downloading and compiling the data. (preferred)
- Direct experience managing environmental, geologic, and geotechnical data collection. (preferred)
- Knowledge of laboratory analytical data verification and validation processes. (preferred)
Below is the range that we in good faith believe is the potential compensation for this role at the time of this posting and is only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.
- Minimum Salary: $57,390 / Maximum Salary: $71,740 (Vancouver, BC)
