Overview

Gilbane Development Company is seeking bright, eager intern candidates to support its development team. This Real Estate Development Intern will focus on a handful of core responsibilities within the Affordable & Mixed-Income Housing platform. The Real Estate Development Intern will support analysts, associates, development managers, and Directors across all phases of the real estate development process. Responsibilities will include market and acquisition analysis, reviewing investment agreements and legal documents, assisting with project planning, and contributing to various other tasks as needed.

Term: Position of a limited term, Summer 2026. The position will be located at the New York, New York office.

Responsibilities

- Conduct market research for markets/sub markets
- Assist in the preparation of Executive Committee memos
- Assist in the preparation of responses to Request for Proposals issued by target municipal agencies
- Assist the development team with due diligence tasks related to project-specific underwriting.
- Support the deal flow and approval process, assisting with preparation for (and attending) weekly deal committee meetings.
- Assist with gathering historical data to populate development software platform.
- Collaborate with greater analyst team to assess the feasibility of proposed development projects and real estate acquisitions

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- Currently enrolled in a graduate program or bachelor's degree program, or completed a bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate, or a similar program.
- Prior experience with commercial real estate preferred.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Some experience with the use of financial modeling tools.
- Strong interpersonal skills (while collaborating with a diverse group of individuals).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to assist in all areas of specific responsibilities as noted herein.
- Superior attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.
For New York City, this ranges from $27.00 per hour - $31.00 per hour.
