Overview

Gilbane is seeking a Senior Claims Manager to manage complex claims for multiple lines of insurance, supporting multiple Divisions. The Senior Manager manages at least one Claims Specialist and is a professional with a high level of subject matter expertise in claims. This role will sit primarily in an office.

Responsibilities

  • Reports and processes claims within 24 hours of receipt
  • Generates claims diaries and reviews all diaries every 30 days
  • Reviews all correspondences and files in appropriate claims file
  • Develops and executes strategy on managing insurance claims and subcontractor default claims
  • Coordinates with project teams to compile claim submissions and respond to RFIs
  • Engages project teams or Business Unit (BU) Controllers to ensure costs are forecasted accurately and risk control measures are in place
  • Interacts with external partners including carrier and surety adjusters, brokers, outside counsel, medics, and consultants as needed
  • Coordinates with Gilbane staff as needed, including Gilbane Insurance Group (GIG), Legal, Safety, Operations, and Accounting
  • Reviews and approves invoices
  • Approves claim settlements as needed
  • Establishes monthly reports and key metrics, diaries, and other duties by utilizing risk insurance management systems knowledge
  • Tracks watchlist and updates claims data
  • Assists in market trend white paper updates
  • Informs the Claims Director of all Claims matters and obtains approvals as needed
  • Responsible for the career development and coaching of team members
  • Interprets and translates the organizational strategy, ensuring team understanding of their role in accomplishing strategic goals
  • Fosters a positive and inclusive work environment to motivate and engage team members

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 5-10 years of experience in claims or other relevant industries
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to function as an integral part of a team while being highly collaborative
  • Ability to coordinate efforts involving individuals from different geographic areas as well as external partners
  • Ability to understand issues quickly and follow through with a resolution
  • Advanced customer service skills
  • Advanced problem solving, planning, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel and other critical RMIS software is essential

This position can be performed remotely or from any U.S. location where Gilbane has an office. Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.

The pay ranges from $140,000 - 215,000 plus benefits and retirement program.
