BUSINESS SEGMENT AND ROLE OVERVIEW

The desk is looking for a strong candidate (Analyst/Associate level) to join the team in a trading role with a diverse set of responsibilities and room for growth over time.

The EM SSA Trading desk is involved in the primary issuance and secondary trading of supranational bonds denominated in EM local currencies. The desk coordinates with issuers to print new deals, pitches to clients and investors globally to recycle a large inventory of bonds, and works with the other trading teams to hedge a broad portfolio of risks.

Products traded include interest rate swaps, cross currency basis swaps, FX, NDFs and government bonds across Asia, EMEA and Latam markets. The desk has experienced strong growth over the last few years and is looking to continue expanding into new areas.

The ideal candidate is motivated, driven, enthusiastic about financial markets and eager to learn. We are looking for someone who is proactive, well-organised, a clear communicator, and able to own a range of tasks and responsibilities through to conclusion.

Responsibilities:

  • Risk management of bond trading positions and associated FX, interest rate and basis risk
  • Support in managing new primary issuances and associated booking, confirmation, settlement and redemption/maturity processes
  • Development of innovative solutions to optimise desk performance and efficiency
  • Trade idea generation and communication to sales, clients and other stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • Quantitative background with a strong working knowledge of interest rate swaps, cross currency basis swaps, NDFs and FX
  • Understanding of the drivers of macroeconomic products and Emerging Markets
  • Desire to learn and develop professionally; takes initiative and ownership of tasks
  • Attention to detail, solution-oriented, interest in improving processes and workflows
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, and ability tailor communication across a range of internal stakeholders and clients across regions
