External Investing Group (XIG)
The External Investing Group (XIG) is responsible for identifying, researching and selecting leading third-party investment managers. The group provides investors with investment solutions across leading private equity funds, co-investment strategies, secondaries, hedge fund managers, GP stakes, real estate managers, public equity and fixed income strategies.
With over 400 professionals across 12 offices globally, XIG helps institutional and individual investors with their program design, manager diligence, portfolio construction and risk management. The investment solutions in XIG have a long history and our programs have seeded and partnered with many of the world's most prominent alternative investment managers.
Today, XIG oversees over $500 billion in client assets across portfolios of both customized and commingled fund solutions as one of the world's broadest, deepest and longest-standing “open architecture” programs. We manage globally diversified programs, targeted sector-specific strategies, customized portfolios, and a range of advisory services. Our investors generally access opportunities through new fund commitments, secondary market investments, co-investments, seed capital investments, investment manager equity / revenue share stakes, or fund of fund solutions.
Alternatives Capital Formation - Private Markets
The Alternatives Capital Formation team is responsible for managing investor relations across the External Investing Group (XIG) private markets investment businesses. These responsibilities include structuring, launching and fundraising of new private equity funds, building client portfolio construction proposals and monitoring its execution, development and production of marketing and portfolio performance materials, collection and analysis of relevant qualitative and quantitative market data, manage communication and platform wide updates regarding XIG private equity funds, and ongoing development of unique investment solutions for our clients.
Principal Responsibilities
- Produce and update marketing and client materials, product profiles, pitch books, performance analyses, annual meeting materials, and other ad hoc client portfolio updates related to XIG private markets strategies
- Work with senior team members in managing client deliverables and communications, as well as new business development activities such as completion of requests for information (RFIs) and due diligence questionnaires (DDQs) during fundraising
- Effectively articulate the role of private equity strategies within a client’s portfolio and explain to internal and external stakeholders the investment strategy
- Produce scenario analyses and build investment pacing proposals for customized portfolios with exposure across a broad range of private market strategies
- Manage data room access and content for fundraises, including case studies, sample client reporting and other documents
- Answer questions from sales teams across all channels (private wealth, institutional, third party distribution) related to XIG private equity funds
- Coordinate closely with investment team and other internal stakeholders such as legal, risk management, operations, compliance, controllers and tax in order to respond to requests from clients, sales teams and senior management
- Evaluate investment performance, portfolio exposures, concentrations, and manager developments for customized private equity portfolios
- Client management including addressing investment inquiries, relaying information on notable external manager updates and portfolio companies, as well as preparation for ongoing client discussions
- Overall serve as product manager and key point person to internal and external stakeholders on private equity products
