Controls Engineering is responsible for building the next generation firm-wide control plane for use in Asset & Wealth Management. The successful candidate will use their deep technical skills to build solutions to manage and implement risk management controls tailored to the diverse products and services offered to AWM clients. The role involves building out web applications that allow users to register, develop and administer controls on the platform.
Your Impact
- Deliver and design new features for Control Management and Implementation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams of Risk Managers and Control Managers to gather requirements and define technical solutions
- Develop, plan for, and lead team members to build clearly defined software functionality aligned with identified business objectives
- Lead and mentor junior members of the team
- Follow and establish standard software development guidelines and best practices
- Analyze existing software to identify areas of improvement and provide estimates for implementing new features
- Manage multiple tasks and use sound judgment when prioritizing
- Participate in user story refinement, technical design, code reviews and the team's Agile process
- Collaborate with engineering leadership, developers, and operations through written and verbal presentations
- Lead and participate in technical architecture reviews
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts
- Mentor and coach junior engineers
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in software development and engineering
- Experience with Java or other relevant Object Oriented development language
- Experience with microservices architecture and API development
- Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases
- Experience building transactional systems and understanding of software architecture
- Experience in developing large-scale, highly available, and distributed systems
- Experience in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and web services
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to establish trusted partnerships with cross functional team members, product owners, and executive level stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Big data/Apache Spark/Apache Nifi.
- An understanding of common application architecture design patterns
- Experience in the financial services industry.
