Petershill Strategies Overview

Established in 2007, Petershill is a leading GP stake investor, specializing in acquiring non-controlling equity interests in the management companies (General Partners or GPs) of alternative asset managers. Through these strategic, non-control investments, Petershill partners with leading alternative asset managers to accelerate their strategic development. By providing strategic capital, Petershill supports the creation of long-term value, enabling GPs to enhance employee retention, facilitate business development, buy out legacy equity holders, and create broader strategic options, all while preserving the autonomy and entrepreneurial spirit of these organizations. To date, Petershill has partnered with over fifty alternative asset management firms and has raised over $17.0bn of capital.

Responsibilities

  • Lead due diligence and evaluation process for GP stakes and preferred equity investments, with a specific focus on developing the investment thesis, identifying key risks, and fundamental valuation across a broad range of strategy and sector focused GPs
  • Lead presentations of investment opportunities to the Investment Committee through written and oral presentations, and oversee development of Investment Committee materials and any required follow-up analysis
  • Lead the execution of investments across all deal types, including negotiation of key investment terms with senior leaders of potential GP partners, while also working closely with internal (e.g., internal counsel, compliance, risk and liquidity management) and external parties (e.g., external counsel, consultants)
  • Cultivate relationships with leading alternative asset managers for GP stakes and related capital solutions; contribute to thematic sourcing initiatives to support a robust pipeline
  • Monitor the performance and risk profile of existing portfolio investments

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in GP Stakes/GP Solutions/Investment Banking/Private Equity/Corporate Development
  • Ability to lead the evaluation of a GP stake or related capital solution investment opportunity, including leading the due diligence process, development of the investment thesis, identifying key risks, and fundamental valuation
  • Ability to lead and manage a diligence team and oversee the production of materials and modeling for investment opportunities
  • Ability to lead the execution of a GP stake investment opportunity, including the ability to negotiate key investment terms with senior leaders of potential GP partners and ability to work closely with internal and external parties to close investments
  • Strong presentation, communication, and negotiation skills enabling the candidate to make robust recommendations to the Investment Committee and interact effectively with third parties
  • Excellent time, people, and project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $125000-$290000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
