About AWM

Goldman Sachs Asset & Wealth Management Division ("AWM") offers a broad product line consisting of all primary asset classes and maintains a global distribution platform designed to serve a diverse client base of institutions and individuals. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer of AWM, the Finance team collaborates closely with senior management on projects impacting the growth and profitability of the division, as well as with the leadership of AWM’s business units on specific financial issues and strategic initiatives.

AWM Private is the primary center for Goldman Sachs’ long-term principal investing activity. Goldman Sachs has operated this business as an integral part of the firm for more than 35 years. AWM Private consists primarily of six main asset management businesses, including Corporate Equity, Growth Equity, Corporate Credit, Infrastructure, Sustainability and Real Estate. Investments are made on behalf of Goldman Sachs, its employees and clients of the firm through a series of investment vehicles and other strategies.

Within AWM, the Finance group supports each asset management business through a variety of functions, including managing the valuation process for each AWM Private business (e.g., recommending appropriate quarter-end equity and debt valuations) and analyzing, budgeting and projecting the performance of each business. This position will be within the AWM Finance group assisting in both the monthly / quarterly valuation process and the budgeting process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Determining and supporting appropriate fair market values across multiple investing disciplines and geographies
  • Preparing and maintaining multi-year departmental revenue, balance sheet and other risk metric forecasts, involving multiple investment strategies
  • Maintaining working knowledge of significant investments and forecasting assumptions
  • Participating in process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the valuation and budgeting process
  • Responding to ad hoc requests and preparing analyses for same
  • Understanding of Alternative product valuation methodologies, working knowledge of real estate, equity and credit
  • Ensure that the external models and appraisals are consistent with the valuation methodologies
  • Manage the internal data behind valuation, asset level activities that are used for modeling
  • Ensure that the flow of data underlying all investment level analytics is accurate and correct.
  • Collaborate with internal asset managers, external appraisers and other vendors to facilitate the valuation process of assets.
  • Keep up to date with market trends that influence valuation

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong academic background. MBA, CFA or CA preferred with 3 plus years of experience in Finance domain
  • Experience with valuation modelling tools a plus.
  • Strong communication skills (clear, concise, and confident) with the ability to manage internal and external relationships
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel- Advanced and financial modeling
  • Working knowledge of automation and analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, Databases) a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and abilities, able to craft unique solutions with limited guidance; proactive in assessing dynamic situations
  • Prior experience in the Alternatives product valuation is preferred
  • Ability to work at varying speeds and under timeframe pressure, while maintaining extremely high standards
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills: ability to build the trust and confidence of colleagues, strengthen relationships through ongoing dialogue and interactions, and collaborate well with others internally
