Our PWM teams partner closely with clients to provide bespoke advisory services and deliver customized investment strategies. Within PWM, the Managed Strategies team is one of Goldman Sachs' most distinctive offerings and oversees all discretionary investment solutions managing over $60bn of assets globally. It delivers an institutional-grade offering and is responsible for the management, execution, and monitoring of discretionary mandates, with a focus on equity strategies involving structured products, equity options, and delta-one equities.

Your Impact

We are currently seeking a high-calibre Portfolio Manager / Trader at Senior Associate / VP level to join our Managed Strategies team with a focus on option overlay strategies and quantitative equity strategies. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in risk management, option theory, market structure, and macroeconomic analysis. Success in this role requires the ability to thrive in fast-paced market environments and exercise decisive judgment in managing index and single-stock option mandates. Beyond driving business growth, the individual will leverage quantitative skills and innovative thinking to develop new strategies while communicating portfolio decisions and outcomes clearly and concisely to clients and internal stakeholders.

How You Will Fulfil Your Potential

  • Active Portfolio Management: collaborate with senior portfolio managers to actively manage option portfolios, including rigorous risk reviews and tactical adjustments.
  • Expertise of Equity Derivative Markets: demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of equity derivative markets and various execution venues, including OTC, Listed, and Flex options for both single stocks and indices.
  • Managing Broker Relationships: cultivate and manage external broker relationships to synthesize market intelligence and expand the team’s trading capabilities.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: partner with internal teams—including Compliance, Legal, Operations, Technology, and Sales—to drive broad platform development and strategic initiatives.
  • Strategic Communication: deliver clear, ongoing updates regarding strategy performance, portfolio positioning, and investment recommendations.
  • Innovation & Development: Drive strategy evolution and idea generation to enhance the discretionary offering, streamline operational processes, and upgrade technological infrastructure.
  • Advisory Partnership: Work in tandem with Private Wealth Advisors (PWAs) to provide strategic coverage and support, deepening existing client relationships and fostering new ones.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience: Ideally 4–8 years of experience in sales or trading ideally with an equity derivatives background.
  • Market Knowledge: comprehensive knowledge of a broad range of financial products and markets -strong preference for equities with fixed income and FX following.
  • Technical Proficiency: advanced proficiency in Bloomberg, Microsoft Office and strong preference for good coding skills.
  • Detail oriented: strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high calibre and focused work.
  • Relationship Management: exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain a robust professional network.
