DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Controllers group is responsible for safeguarding the firm's assets and helping to maintain the integrity of Goldman Sachs' finances and expenditures. The LatAm Controllers team sits within Legal Entity Controllers, which is part of the Controllers Department, and is responsible for preparing and analyzing balance sheet (BS) and attribution reports covering both US GAAP and Bacen GAAP reporting. Key control functions include balance sheet reporting, local risk reporting, local regulatory reporting, and financial statement production in accordance with global and local rules, as well as regulations applicable to broker-dealers in the local market.


The primary mission of Controllers is to ensure that the firm meets the financial control and reporting obligations of a global, regulated, public financial institution. The Controllers department is made up of interrelated teams that work together to monitor the profitability and risks associated with every aspect of Goldman Sachs' business.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Below is a brief description of some of Legal Entity Controllers' core functions:

  1. Assisting with the financial statement process in accordance with Brazil GAAP, US GAAP, and IFRS;
  2. Ensuring accurate and complete reporting of regulatory information to regulatory authorities under Brazil GAAP, US GAAP, and IFRS;
  3. Assisting with month-end closing processes for financial and non-financial entities under Brazil GAAP, US GAAP, and IFRS;
  4. Supporting responses to information requests from external auditors and local regulators, including the Brazilian Central Bank;
  5. Performing data analysis, reconciliations, and maintaining documentation to support balance sheet controls;
  6. Providing general support to the team with ad hoc analyses and special projects.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and registration with the Conselho Regional de Contabilidade (CRC) are required.
  • At least two years of experience in financial institution accounting or regulatory control roles under Bacen GAAP.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles; familiarity with Brazil GAAP or COSIF is considered an advantage.

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to understand transactions and their impact on local GAAP under COSIF requirements.
  • Teamwork- and collaboration-oriented, with the ability to work independently.

  • Advanced English proficiency in speaking, writing, and reading.
