Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience in software development in back-end infrastructure, which includes testing, and launching software products.
  • Experience in Java, C++, and with web client infrastructure.
  • Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and related front-end technologies.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with server and client performance optimizations and infrastructure supporting applications.
  • Experience with Chrome developer tools and related web technologies for UI rendering.
  • Knowledge of browser rendering life-cycles, performance tuning, and infrastructure optimization.
  • Ability to influence team members and develop collaborative relationships with adjacent teams.
  • Ability to communicate in English to collaborate with stakeholders.

The team's mission is to design, develop, and maintain a flexible, intuitive, scalable, and reliable infrastructure that powers Google Search. The team focuses on building the core UI foundation that enables the Feature teams to iterate and deliver resilient search experiences to users worldwide. The team owns the underlying infrastructure that ensures Search developers have the tools they need to build next-generation AI-driven experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Own aspects of software engineering work, from conception through implementation and deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to scope problems, research potential solutions and technologies, and recommend solutions that balance short-term needs with long-term goals.
  • Design and develop full-stack solutions, leverage knowledge in Java, C++, UI rendering, server-side optimizations, and infrastructure performance.
  • Act as a point of contact for the team and contribute to setting technical direction and priorities.
  • Drive projects from inception through execution, and demonstrate technical leadership and development.
