About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Our goal is to build a Google that looks like the world around us — and we want Googlers to stay and grow when they join us. As part of our efforts to build a Google for everyone, we build diversity, equity, and inclusion into our work and we aim to cultivate a sense of belonging throughout the company.

Initiate, design and manage physical infrastructure programs for Google’s large data center campuses. Create designs, Scopes of Work (SOWs) and expenditure approval documents for ISP and OSP fiber cabling, conveyances, and electrical/cooling/space of data center networking rooms. Usher projects through the entire project lifecycle this includes driving critical schedule paths, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders.

You have an opportunity to leverage your solid infrastructure expertise to promote alignment across teams and complex work streams, identify innovative solutions, and drive process improvements leading to continuous capacity delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure all designs and implementations balance the current requirements and potential future generations of networking technology as well as enable effective deployment and ongoing operations of the infrastructure.
  • Evaluate alternatives and develop cost estimates for project-specific feasibility studies. Create standards and templates to streamline build processes, and create design drawings and SOW documents for network infrastructure and optical cabling for both ISP and OSP.
  • Communicate with partners to collect drivers and deadlines for delivering network capacity.
  • Travel approximately 25% of the time, mostly to Google’s Data Centers around the globe.
