About the job

Google’s Cloud & Technical Infrastructure teams are responsible for the global infrastructure that powers Google. We do everything from designing and building gigawatts of data centers and petabits of networks around the world, to designing and manufacturing the servers, AI accelerators, and optical switches which comprise our fleet, to developing the infrastructure software which runs on that fleet and underpins all Google’s multi-billion-user services and Cloud platforms.

Google’s infrastructure strategy enables data centers, and network that operate safely, securely, and sustainably, while supporting massive increases in demand and performance.

The Global Infrastructure and Energy (GIE) team focuses on acquiring, building and operating the global infrastructure connecting every Google machine and user on the planet. Google has one of the most advanced and innovative operations environments, and proudly operates a network that provides service to many internet users around the world. The team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. As a leader in this team, you have a direct impact on the reliability and availability of this network infrastructure and associated tooling and operations to keep our systems running smoothly. You also ensure that network operations are safe and efficient by monitoring network performance, coordinating planned maintenance, and responding to network connectivity issues. Google's complex network generates a constant stream of challenges which require you to continually be innovative with an evolving set of technologies. Keeping the network reliable ensures that our users stay connected with our suite of applications, products and services. You will be at the hub of multiple technical teams responsible for unparalleled availability.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.
