Job Description:
Guggenheim Securities Investment Banking unit is seeking candidates to join its Houston Energy, Power, and Energy Transition team for a 10-week Summer Associate Intern Program. Interns become important members of our deal teams and work as a junior associate on a variety of interesting strategic advisory and financing-related transactions and assignments. You will have meaningful exposure to senior bankers and client representatives as well as the ability to create meaningful relationships with junior bankers.
Candidates should be top performers who are willing to work hard in an unstructured environment where initiative, creativity, maturity, and enthusiasm for learning are highly valued. We are seeking bright, highly motivated individuals with solid finance knowledge coupled with strong technical skills.
The Investment Banking unit will source most of its full-time associate class from the internship program.
The internship will be based in our Houston, TX office with our Energy, Power, and Energy Transition team. Guggenheim Securities’ Energy, Power, and Energy Transition Investment Banking group provides specialized financial advisory to the upstream, midstream, downstream, and clean energy sectors of the industry. Staying true to the Guggenheim Securities model, lean deal teams provide exceptional experience and competitive deal flow for incoming candidates.
Essential Job Functions
Identifying, researching, and analyzing M&A and financing opportunities
Developing and maintaining complex financial models
Completing and reviewing valuation analysis
Researching company information and industry trends
Performing client due diligence
Preparing information memoranda and other transaction-related documentation
Preparing and contributing to delivery of client presentations and interacting with senior bankers, clients, lawyers, and accountants
Managing and developing junior staff qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
2-5 years of work experience
Financial modeling and valuation experience
Significant level of maturity and the ability to work as a team interfacing with top company executives and senior management
Highly organized, with the initiative and ability to work with limited supervision
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
Strong written and oral communication skills
Effective process management abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Demonstrated interest in energy, power, and/or energy transition sectors
Interest in working in Houston long term
Basic Qualifications

On track to receive an MBA in finance / economics or a related field from a top university
On track to graduate in either December 2026 or Spring 2027
Salary Details
A salary based on an annual rate of $175,000 per year.
The base salary amount represents the anticipated salary for this position. Actual base salaries may vary depending on factors such as location and experience. The salary listed reflects base salary only, and the total compensation package may include other components such as incentive compensation.
