What You Will Do:
The Business Analyst supports system-level and enterprise metadata initiatives by conducting structured data collection, stakeholder engagement, and documentation activities. This role serves as a technical-analytical practitioner and administrative backbone for the program, ensuring accurate, complete, and normalized metadata across multiple data systems. Additional work may include quality assurance and testing, technical writing, understanding end-user needs and experiences, and establishing data management and governance practices. The Business Analyst works closely with system owners, data stewards, and subject matter experts (SMEs) and supports governance, reporting, and usability evaluation efforts across a federal health entity.
Key Responsibilities
Conducts in-person and virtual interviews with system owners, data stewards, and SMEs; elicits, captures, and normalizes technical/business/security metadata.
Ensures accuracy and completeness using standardized intake templates and steward validation cycles with client stakeholders.
Maintains agendas, stakeholder rosters, minutes, RACI logs, and risk/issue/action tracking; supports in-person/virtual facilitation logistics across agency.
Prepares inputs for monthly and quarterly reporting and maintains document control.
What You Will Need:
Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "PUBLIC TRUST". Candidates with an ACTIVE PUBLIC TRUST or SUITABILITY are preferred.
Bachelor's degree; FOUR (4) additional years of business and/or data analytics experience can be used in lieu of degree.
THREE (3) or more years of experience in Business And/or Data analytics.
What Would Be Nice to Have:
ONE (1) or more years of experience working with Metadata.
Experience working in the healthcare space.
Experience conducting structured interviews and facilitating discussions with technical and business stakeholders.
Experience capturing and documenting metadata using standardized templates.
Strong written and oral communications skills and ability to ask probing questions.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Experience working with healthcare/health data and operational data such as HR, Finance, IT, procurement, etc.
Experience with the federal government, including Veterans Affairs and/or Defense Health Agency.
Experience with technical writing, developing data related reports and documents.
Experience with quality assurance and testing.
Experience with end-user training, developing materials and delivery.
FIVE (5) or more years of experience in Business And/or Data analytics.
Experience using generative AI as an assistive technology to accelerate preparing and editing documentation.
