Job Description

Job Summary

We are currently seeking an Associate Director to fill an opening on HX, leading the programmatic planning department of Horizon Media. HX executes ad-exchange media buying (including by not limited to banner, video, paid social and mobile) across Horizon’s portfolio of Branding and DR clients. This role owns account management, sales operations and customer experience for all of HX.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee Account Management

  • Oversee the development and presentation of strong and effective media plans based on established RTB and premium-programmatic strategies, as well as on custom research and test-and-learn processes
  • Represent the Horizon Trading Desk's capabilities and advantages at client planning sessions and biz-dev meetings
  • Build business cases for current Horizon clients considering trading desk tests or new/increased investments
  • Hire, train and manage a team of senior and junior account managers, delegating tasks and establishing new processes as trading desk volume increases
  • For key accounts, support the delivery of long-term strategic guidance, leveraging custom analytics to inform recommendations

Own Relationships with Media Planning Leads

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with leaders on the digital planning and strategy teams
  • Forecast opportunities and make strategic resource decisions based on first-hand knowledge of decision parameters
  • Work with creative and technology partners to ensure optimal ad development and harmony between media and creative strategies
  • Design and implement custom projects to improve delivery of HX services, from pitch to wrap-up, with success measured by internal customer experience surveys

Lead HX Sales Operations

  • Act as HX’s primary liaison to Horizon finance, managing forecasting and supporting monthly reconciliation.
  • Deliver analyses of HX performance vs goals, trends and future implications
  • Support the creation of sales planning, case-study and marketing materials

Supervisory Responsibilities

Train, manage, and grow the programmatic planning team

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • 5-7 years’ previous digital media experience
  • Proven ability to thrive in a highly-collaborative, fast-paced work environment
  • Proven ability to facilitate client adoption of new technologies and ways of doing business
  • Proven ability to succeed as an internal advocate for change
  • Advanced user of data-driven software, including Excel and at least one ad-buying console or ad server
  • Strong interest in digital communications in general and emerging media in particular
  • Working knowledge of statistical concepts relevant to optimization, as well as of scientific testing in live media environments
  • Management experience
  • Operational experience

Salary Range

$115,000.00 - $135,000.00

A successful applicant’s actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure/certifications, and equity.
