Scope

The Associate Employment Counsel will be primarily responsible for the creation and management of senior employment contracts and any addenda thereto for all new hires into the Firm’s International locations (i.e., UK, EMEA, and APAC, but excluding Japan), as well as any amendments to such contracts. They will also be responsible for responding to legal queries, drafting advice notes, conducting research, and dealing with various other employment matters undertaken by the HCG Legal Team.

Responsibilities

As an Associate Employment Counsel, your duties will include:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and editing contracts and other legal documents, including, but not limited to, offer letters, confidentiality agreements, promissory notes, settlement agreements, and consulting agreements and maintaining these templates
  • Staying abreast of changes and developments in employment law and regulations in the various International jurisdictions where the Firm operates, and updating contract templates and practices accordingly
  • Researching and advising hiring managers, HR Business Partners and recruiters on various employment contract matters, such as legal implications, best practices, and industry standards
  • Liaising with local counsel to address region-specific employment law issues as required and managing the sharing of such advice to internal stakeholders
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in UK law or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of PQE practising employment law
  • A good understanding of (or proven ability to research) Employment law and other applicable laws in the UK
  • Prior experience in drafting employment contracts and contract template skills strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of legal research methods and sources
  • Experience working in a global team and providing a high level of service to stakeholders and employees
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent communication and time management skills
  • Must be diligent and persistent in follow-up and effectively manage tasks with minimal supervision
  • Skilled in problem-solving and decision making
  • Capable of multi-tasking and meeting tight deadlines
  • Ability to build partnerships across departments, work well in a team but also have the ability to work independently
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Word.
