Financial Restructuring

Houlihan Lokey has the largest worldwide financial restructuring practice of any investment banking firm, with offices and experienced professionals located across the globe. Since its inception in 1988, the restructuring group has advised on more than 1,800 restructuring transactions with aggregate debt claims in excess of $3.8 trillion. With nearly 300 dedicated restructuring professionals worldwide, our group has a significant global presence. We serve clients domestically and around the world, providing extensive resources to staff each case. Our broad base of clients and extensive experience allow us to understand the dynamics of each restructuring situation and the needs, attitudes, and positions of all parties in interest.



The Financial Restructuring group is looking for Interns to join our 12 month Internship Program within our London office.

Our 12 month Internship Program offers undergraduate students (who are completing a 4 year BSc degree) the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience within our Financial Restructuring business. During the program, you will be fully involved in real day to day work, assisting with a variety of live transactions including creditor- and debtor-side restructurings and distressed M&A. The group offers a unique opportunity to work on projects that provide exposure to various financial advisory and investment banking products and industries.

These services include:

  • Advising companies and stakeholders in out-of-court and in-court restructurings
  • Raising debt and equity financings
  • Providing distressed M&A advisory services
  • Advising in special situations with elements of distressed investing
  • Participating in complex negotiations on behalf of our client

Interns on our 12 month program will typically be members of deal teams comprising at least one managing director, vice president, associate and financial analyst.

Requirements/Qualifications

The following qualifications are required:

  • Must be in your penultimate year of study on a 4 year BSc degree – completing your final university assessments in Spring or Summer 2028
  • Top academic performer and a quick learner capable of performing in an unstructured environment
  • A demonstrated interest in Financial Restructuring
  • Thorough understanding of valuation theory, methodologies and applications
  • Strong quantitative, financial and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • An exceptional strong work ethic
  • Prior investment banking internship experience (M&A or an industry team), leverage finance or restructuring is desirable, but not essential
