General Description:

As a Systems Engineer for End User Computing at Houlihan Lokey, you will be a cornerstone of our global IT team and the foundational IT presence in our Sydney office. This unique, hybrid role is designed for a skilled IT professional who combines deep technical expertise in modern endpoint management with a dedication to delivering a hospitality-focused support experience. This role is ideal for a professional with a natural inquisitiveness and a passion for understanding the 'why' behind technical challenges, enabling you to devise effective and creative solutions. You will be the face of IT for the Sydney office, and your ability to provide exceptional service is paramount.

A critical component of this role is your expert-level knowledge of the Microsoft 365 stack, including the configuration of Intune and conditional access policies. In addition to supporting cloud systems and configurations, you will also be part of our global IT team, providing comprehensive on-site IT support for our Sydney users. Additionally, your expertise will be leveraged as a key escalation point in the Asia-Pacific region, working in concert with our global team. We are looking for a self-starter who can masterfully balance hands-on user support with the complex demands of endpoint management in a global, cloud-first environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver an exceptional IT support experience, approaching every user interaction with empathy, patience, and a hospitality-first mindset.
  • Work in close partnership with both our global Service Desk team and local end-users to ensure a cohesive and responsive IT experience for our Australian office.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all on-site IT support in the Sydney office, including hardware, software, network, and peripheral issues.
  • Support the deployment, management, and security of endpoints using Microsoft Intune.
  • Manage and execute the full lifecycle of Intune application packaging and deployments.
  • Act as the regional escalation point for all complex issues related to Microsoft Intune, M365, and other End User Computing technologies.
  • Support the broader Microsoft 365 environment, including Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.
  • Manage user accounts, groups, licenses, and access controls within Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on cloud projects, migrations, acquisitions, and the implementation of new technologies.
  • Stay current with emerging cloud trends and technologies.

Soft Skills:

  • Communicate clearly and effectively, translating technical details into straightforward information for colleagues and end‑users.
  • Build productive working relationships across IT teams and business units through collaboration and dependability.
  • Strong communication skills that balance accuracy with hospitality and approachability.
  • Demonstrate curiosity and a proactive approach to learning new technologies and adapting to evolving technologies.
  • Stay composed and solution‑oriented when navigating complex or ambiguous technical issues.
  • Maintain a service‑focused mindset, prioritizing responsiveness and high‑quality support for users across the firm.
  • Take ownership of tasks and contribute to team reliability by following through, sharing knowledge, and supporting peers.

Basic Qualifications/ Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate technical issues into understandable terms for non-technical users.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune is a mandatory requirement. You must demonstrate deep proficiency in navigating and administering the Intune environment, including endpoint policy management, conditional access, compliance, and application deployment strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite and Microsoft Entra ID administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide on-site, hands-on support for a wide range of end-user hardware and software issues.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate (MD-102) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • A degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Scripting knowledge for automation, preferably with PowerShell.
  • Experience in a similar hybrid role, providing both on-site support and specialized remote support.
  • ITIL Foundation certification is a plus.
