Job Description

Invesco Mortgage Capital, Inc. is a publicly held mortgage real estate investment trust (REIT) that trades on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: IVR). The Company is primarily focused on investing in, financing and managing mortgage-backed securities and other mortgage-related assets. IVR is externally managed by Invesco Advisors.

Your Role:

This position reports to IVR’s Assistant Controller and has the primary responsibility of supporting various financial reporting and operational finance functions of IVR.

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Assisting in preparation of SEC filings including 10-Q’s, 10-K’s and 8-K’s

  • Ensuring investment, derivative, and borrowing activities are communicated to service providers timely and trades are reflected properly in the accounting software system

  • Reviewing investment portfolio reports for accuracy and facilitate timely resolution of variances among front, middle and back-office systems

  • Coordinating with internal investment services teams to ensure open items are cleared and reconciliations are completed according to service level agreement

  • Assisting with SOX compliance including coordinating with control owners and providing deliverables

  • Reviewing and overseeing preparation of monthly expense reimbursement summary

  • Tracking and monitoring daily share transactions

  • Training, overseeing and reviewing the work of international resources

  • Assisting with internal and external audits

  • Coordinating internal and external wire transfers

  • Preparing ad hoc requests as necessary to support senior management’s decision making

The Experience You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • 3+ years accounting experience

  • Prior SEC reporting experience or public accounting experience with exposure to SEC filings is preferred

  • Workiva knowledge is preferred

  • Financial services industry experience is a plus

  • CPA or CPA candidacy is a plus

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
