Job Description

The Principal Scrum Master is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of specific Security projects and ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals. The Principal Scrum Master will be responsible for managing and delivering Security and business solutions using Scrum/Kanban framework best practices. As the foremost ambassador for Agile within Invesco Global Security, the incumbent will lead the Scrum Team(s) in working towards their goals through the use of Agile values and practices. An expert in Jira/ Confluence use, master collaborator, and dynamic coach, this role will also aid new team members in integrating to agile, using common tools and roles/ responsibilities.

You will be responsible for:

Scrum Master Responsibilities:

  • Coaches the Scrum team in self-organization, multi-functional abilities, domain knowledge and communicates effectively, both internally and externally working within the Scrum team
  • Conduct sprint planning, review, retrospective, story refinement, and daily scrum ceremonies
  • Act as a servant-leader to an agile team; removing impediments and ensuring team efficiency
  • Identifies and shares coaching trends with Agile coach and/or COE
  • Work with Product Owners to understand the business priorities and items to be groomed in upcoming sprints. Coach Product Owners on Story writing and Story splitting as needed.
  • Work with other Scrum Masters to ensure alignment and manage dependencies to support other teams’ delivery commitments
  • Collect and report team level status updates and metrics

Program Manager Responsibilities:

  • Lead and motivate members on the program team
  • Define Program Charter (e.g. project objectives, scope, and deliverables) and validate alignment with business and system strategies
  • Leads the team in the development of program roadmap and underlying tasks using either waterfall or agile project management methodology or a combination of both
  • Drives the Invesco project approval processes
  • Lead reviews of requirements and designs with relevant collaborators to acquire agreement and sign off
  • Facilitates estimates of effort, costs, and timescales for proposed projects and takes ownership for managing against these estimates
  • Assist in prioritization of program phases and deliverables
  • Secure and coordinate the vital resources for a project by working with appropriate line managers including any vendor or third-party resources
  • Supervise and manage project’s scope, timeline & budget
  • Offers recommendations and coaching on program management methodology, including Agile practices and interaction models.
  • Report program and agile performance metrics

The experience you bring:

  • Expert user of Jira & Confluence
  • 5+ years’ experience in a Scrum Master role with coaching experience
  • Experience with any form of the Scaled agile framework such as SAFe/LeSS/ DaD an asset
  • Experience with global geographically diverse teams
  • Working knowledge of commonly used security tools and practices in the industry
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in project management processes and methodologies, as well as software development project lifecycles
  • Team player who consistently demonstrate strong tact and partnership
  • Interest and experience in technology and security domains
  • Able to influence and build relationships at all levels of staff internally
  • A Bachelor’s Degree, Graduate or Graduate Caliber, or equivalent qualification is preferred
  • Scrum Master certification required
  • Formal project management training and/or qualification (i.e. PMI PMP certificate) an asset
  • Formal Security training and/or qualification (i.e. CISSP, CISM) an asset
