The Health, Behavior and Society Department is seeking a Sr. Research Project Coordinator. The Sr. Research Project Coordinator oversees the day-to-day activities of a single complex or multiple research projects and makes independent decisions that impact the conduct of the research. Assists in goal setting and creating implementation plans. Contributes to budget formulation, communications, and data systems.
This position is responsible for coordinating research projects under the Institute for Global Tobacco Control (IGTC) Unit in the Department of Health, Behavior & Society at JHSPH. IGTC is a key partner of the Bloomberg Initiative to Reduce Tobacco use and works to reduce global tobacco demand through a comprehensive, evidence-based approach that combines promoting policy change with increasing public awareness in low- and middle-income countries worldwide. The position will manage projects to generate evidence and will liaise with Bloomberg Initiative partners to obtain input on project ideas, project implementation, and dissemination of the findings.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the Principal Investigator or more senior research staff to ensure operational feasibility of proposed protocol/study design.
- Develop standard operating procedures and data collection forms based on understanding of underlying study design.
- Develop or oversee design and implementation of study procedures and tools for data collection, e.g., participant interviews, administering questionnaires; background research, laboratory processing, etc.
- Ensure compliance with all protocols, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Participate in developing the study budget.
- Set up data collection system and ensure validity of study data.
- Organize and quality control study data.
- Recommend and implement changes to protocol operations based on results and goals.
- Conduct literature searches to provide background information.
- Abstract and index information based on knowledge of subject matter.
- Other duties as assigned.
In addition to the duties described above
- Serve as the liaison for Bloomberg Initiative to Reduce Tobacco Use partner organizations and grantees to identify strategic information needs for a particular country, countries, or region.
- Design and implement projects, and disseminate relevant information, to address those needs and provide technical assistance.
- Identify and support capacity building efforts.
- Plan trainings to build tobacco control policy capacity in the focal country(ies).
- Represent JHSPH nationally and internationally, including actively participating in national and international meetings, panels, and other activities related to tobacco control policy.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- Three years of related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in a related field.
