We are seeking a Sr. Research Project Supervisor who will oversee day-to-day activities of a single or multiple research studies and make independent decisions that impact the conduct of the research. Will assist in goal setting and creating implementation plans. Contributes to budget formulation, communications, and data systems. Supervises project support staff team, comprising a minimum of two full-time research team members carrying out protocol related operational tasks.
Dr. Quiros-Alcala’s Research Laboratory is seeking a Sr. Research Project Supervisor to administratively coordinate field staff personnel, develop and implement research protocols to ensure the efficient logistical implementation of the study activities and to provide general administrative support for all related issues for ongoing studies working with hairdressers and hair salon owners in Maryland.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist Principal Investigator or more senior research staff to ensure operational feasibility of proposed protocol/study design.
- Facilitate administrative hiring processes and participate in staff interviews and hiring decisions.
- Oversee day-to-day activities of support staff on study.
- Delegate and oversee performance of study tasks.
- Set performance goals, coach staff, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Develop and/or oversee design and implementation of standard operating procedures and tools for data collection, e.g. participant interviews, administer questionnaires; background research, laboratory processing, etc.
- Ensure compliance with all protocols, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Participate in developing study budget.
- Set up data collection system and ensure validity of study data.
- Ensure organization and quality control of study data.
- Recommend and implement changes to protocol operations based on results and goals.
- Conduct literature searches to provide background information.
- Abstract and index information based on knowledge of subject matter.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Three years of related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree.
- Driver's license and/or reliable transportation.
- Bilingual (reading/speaking) in Spanish.
- Supervisory or lead experience in a research environment.
Technical Qualifications & Specialized Certifications
- Participation and timely completion of JHU supervisory classes.
