Job Description:

The successful candidate in this position will be joining a team of risk professionals from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience who collectively ensure that the Firm’s Operational Risk Management Framework is implemented and functions effectively within the Asset & Wealth Management (AWM) Finance and Risk functions.

Job responsibilities

This position will be based in Bengaluru India and will be required to

  • Leverage the Firmwide CCOR Management Framework to Identify, Measure, Monitor, Manage, Report and Govern Operational Risk;
    • Provide input for the annual Operational Risk Monitoring and Testing plan and define testing approaches for AWM Finance and Risk functions
    • Liaise with key stakeholders across first, second and third lines of defense including engaging on the results of any monitoring and testing activities
  • Provide operational risk oversight including reviewing and challenging risks, processes and controls identified within AWM Finance and Risk Functions.
  • Identify and assess the operational risk for all new business initiatives, including challenging the appropriateness of processes and controls, and determining pre-go live requirements
  • Engage with the business to continually improve operational risk processes and business operating models, support safe business growth, and inform & influence risk-based decision making
  • Provide independent operational risk oversight in key governance forums; escalate to committees and liaise with regulators as needed
  • Build consultative relationships with AWM Finance/Risk management, control teams, CCOR and Risk colleagues to drive and influence strategic programs decisions
  • Contribute to materials for presentations at working groups, senior management meetings, and providing sufficient information to inform key stakeholders
  • Understand and assess key and emerging operational risks for the business including staying abreast of industry news, incidents and regulatory developments to facilitate proactive risk identification and mitigation.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Minimum University/Bachelor’s Degree with at least 12+ years’ experience, preferably in risk management or finance
  • Curiosity and an interest in understanding how businesses work and effectively manage risk
  • Experience with risk management, control management, compliance and audit in the financial industry desirable; particularly advantageous would be either
    • Detailed knowledge of AWM Finance, accounting standards, internal financial reporting, capital stress programs, balance sheet substantiation and financial regulatory reporting, or
    • Detailed knowledge of AWM Risk and exposure to multiple risk disciplines (e.g., credit, investment, fiduciary, reputation)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including effective interaction with senior management
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex processes, analyze potential risks and present solutions to key stakeholders
  • Able to make independent decisions and work with limited supervision while exceling in a dynamic, demanding environment
  • Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills with the ability to drive change
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment

Working Hours: 1:30 pm to 10:30 pm India Hours
