Compliance Conduct Operational Risk – AWM - Senior Associate - Monitoring Lead


Job Description:

The successful candidate in this position will be joining a team of risk professionals from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience who collectively ensure that the Firm’s Operational Risk Management Framework is implemented and functions effectively within the Asset & Wealth Management (AWM) Business.

Job responsibilities

This position will be based in Bengaluru India and will be required to

  • Conduct monitoring of operational risk within AWM using readily available data sets.
  • Determine and obtain new datasets to cover incremental risk in a scalable way
  • Design and build automated approaches for Second Line of Defense monitoring of key risk areas such as system access controls, investment guideline Compliance, trade activity, error trends and related control effectiveness, vendor management, manual processes, etc.
  • Leverage the Firmwide CCOR Management Framework to Identify, Measure, Monitor, Manage, Report and Govern Operational Risk;
    • Provide input for the annual Operational Risk Monitoring and Testing plan and define testing and monitoring approaches
    • Liaise with key stakeholders across first, second and third LoD including engaging on the results of any monitoring and testing activities
  • Provide oversight to management of operational risk including reviewing and challenging risks, processes and controls identified within AWM
  • Engage with the business to continually improve operational risk processes and business operating models
  • Support safe business growth, and inform & influence risk-based decision making
  • Provide independent operational risk oversight in key governance forums; escalate to committees and liaise with regulators as needed
  • Build consultative relationships with AWM business, CCOR and Risk colleagues to drive and influence strategic programs decisions
  • Contribute to materials for presentations at working groups, senior management meetings, and providing sufficient information to inform key stakeholders

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Minimum University/Bachelor’s Degree with at least 10+ years experience, preferably in risk management, control management, product control, compliance and audit in the financial industry
  • Experience in manipulating large datasets utilizing toolsets like Alteryx, Tableau or Python to design and implement Operational Risk monitoring is required
  • Curiosity and an interest in understanding how businesses work and effectively manage risk
  • Experience with risk management, control management, compliance and audit in the financial industry desirable
  • Knowledge of AWM business and products (such as fixed income and equities, deposits and banking, lending, investment management) preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including effective interaction with senior management
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex processes, analyze potential risks and present solutions to key stakeholders
  • Able to make independent decisions and work with limited supervision while exceling in a dynamic, demanding environment
  • Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills with the ability to drive change
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment

Working Hours: 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM India Standard Time
