Job Summary

Vice President role in the EMEA Emerging Markets Credit team covering corporate and FI clients in the Emerging Europe region for the Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB). You will work closely with business partners across the region including Debt Capital Markets, Acquisition and Leveraged Finance, M&A, Corporate Bank, Markets, Treasury Services and Trade Finance. Given the broad sector and client base covered, the team is focused on performing credit analysis on Investment Grade and Non-Investment Grade clients as well as structuring and documenting a wide variety of credit products.

Job Responsibilities

  • Being the Credit expert for a portfolio of clients in the region with primary responsibility for credit exposure
  • Manage clients across a range of industries including corporates, financial institutions and sovereign related entities, including monitoring of credit ratings, sector trends and client performance
  • Lead the due diligence, credit analysis and financial modelling of credit counterparties, transactions and complex financing structures; drive the preparation of credit memos and make recommendations as to appropriate structure, risk appetite and grading
  • Work across a variety of products including secured and unsecured loans, derivatives, trade and treasury products, and related documentation. Lead the structuring, negotiation and execution of loan documentation, derivatives and other facilities.
  • Being able to make a sound credit recommendation and own the credit approval decision
  • Balance a commercial and solution-driven mindset with a sound risk and controls attitude.
  • Track market and industry developments and their impact on clients: keeping up to date with the political and macroeconomic environment as well as having an in-depth knowledge of clients in the portfolio
  • Build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders at a senior level and foster team knowledge
  • Lead a sub-team, coaching and training members of the Analyst and Associate community on both technical and professional skills
  • Meeting clients and leading due diligence meetings.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Strong analytical and credit skills/judgment, covering both qualitative and quantitative aspects.
  • Demonstrable product knowledge of a wide range of lending, derivative and treasury services products and documentation associated with these products.
  • Established team player, project management skills and be able to take end to end ownership of work/projects.
  • Ability to take an active role in identifying key issues and concerns relating to clients, their industries and transaction structures
  • Be able to establish credibility and trust with clients, internal business partners, product specialists and credit officers, and to partner with them effectively.
  • Ability to foster relationships and confidently interact with origination teams and other internal stakeholders
  • Self-starting, result-driven, multi-tasking, risk-reward mindset and adaptable to change given the dynamic nature and timing of workflow.
  • Proven coaching and development ability towards junior colleagues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to demonstrate good time management and clarity in thinking when dealing with multiple work streams in a fast-paced environment
  • Significant experience (at least 6 years) in roles with relevant skills for this position.
  • Previous experience of reviewing and commenting on loan documentation/core corporate derivative documentation is recommended.
  • Undergraduate degree or post graduate qualifications in accounting, business, finance, or a quantitative related discipline
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel with an ability to navigate through financial models, as well as other Microsoft programs (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook etc.)
