Job Description
The Global Corporate Banking – Real Estate group is part of Global Banking within the Commercial & Investment Bank at J.P. Morgan. The group focuses on public and large private corporates, financial sponsors and asset management complexes in the Real Estate, Gaming and Lodging sectors. Our team helps structure and deliver traditional banking and investment banking solutions for our clients.
As an Analyst within Global Corporate Banking, you will play a key role in the deal team, assisting in the origination and management of a portfolio of commercial real estate credits and relationships in a dynamic, regulated environment. You should possess a foundational understanding of commercial real estate finance and lending, with the opportunity to enhance these skills further in this position. Strong analytical and business writing abilities are essential, and as the role involves some customer interaction, effective communication skills are also required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in preliminary deal screening for secured loan opportunities, performing a variety of credit analysis.
- Conduct market analysis and create underwriting/screening materials.
- Understand and apply credit and regulatory policies.
- Work with deal team to size and structure loans to mitigate risks and liabilities.
- Prepare underwriting and investment committee memorandums.
- Work with numerous internal teams to facilitate loan closings.
- Monitor loan and portfolio performance post-closing, including identifying and escalating issues.
- Communicate with clients on loan deliverables.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills::
- Strong analytical and business writing skills
- Good interpersonal skills with internal partners, counsel, clients and senior management.
- Accounting and finance knowledge, as well as knowledge of real estate fundamentals and concepts
- Completion of a major corporate banking credit training program (or the equivalent corporate banking/corporate finance experience)
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- 1-2 years of commercial banking/lending experience
- Experience in commercial real estate credit is strongly preferred
- A BS/BA degree (Business, Finance & Accounting preferred; all majors considered
- Knowledge of JPMC or similar bank policies and procedures preferred
- Experience with cash flow modeling and financial statement analysis is preferred
