Job Description
The world-class Communications Team at JPMorganChase is seeking an experienced professional to join the U.S. Regional Communications team to coordinate and support on a public relations and public affairs strategy in Northern California. The audiences include all forms of media, employees and clients, local thought leaders and community stakeholders.
As a Regional Communications Manager within the Communications Team you will support and integrate the Regional Communications marketing resources to help deliver the company's priorities in strategically impactful ways. In addition, you will work closely with the firm’s businesses and corporate groups to execute comprehensive strategies that reinforce the value JPMorganChase brings to the state as a business, community partner and global headquarters. You will also leverage earned media opportunities sourced and coordinated across the company and execute public affairs strategies, with an emphasis on hyperlocal earned media.
Job responsibilities:
- Raise the visibility and awareness of JP MorganChase’s impact across a wide stakeholder set
- Deploy strategies to target large, medium and hyperlocal news outlets across channels
- Protect and enhance our reputation passionately.
- Develop the communications strategy to proactively tell the firm’s story with our customers, employees and local stakeholders
- Draw on the Regional Communications marketing resources to ensure strategic alignment with the company’s priorities
- Serve as our firm’s spokesperson, and establish, maintain and deepen relationships with key media outlets
- Serve as counsel to our leaders on media, reputation and other communication and community-related issues
- Serve as reporter/editor to gather and organize employee communication content
- Lead internal and external communications in responding to local emergencies
- Engage fully in our local leadership teams
- Travel to and staff key events as needed and appropriate
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- 7+ years of experience in a combination of media, executive communications or public relations; Degree in Journalism, Communications or relevant field of study required.
- Experience building and deepening relationships within a media market exhibiting deep knowledge within the landscape, including multicultural, nonprofit and hyperlocal channels
- Demonstrated experience with the confluence of media, policymaking and community engagement to create tailored messaging and storytelling for all stakeholders
- Understanding of the intersection of media relations and paid marketing activity ; ability to collaborate with colleagues across lines of business and corporate functions to lead strategy and execution while navigating internal stakeholders
- Ability to work with senior executives regularly / maintain an executive presence, ability to think like a customer and advocate for customers and the community and posses outstanding judgement, problem-solving ability and be resourceful.

- Strong interpersonal, networking and presentation skills; ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- Ability to manage large-scale, complex projects with discipline and precision
- Creativity and ability to generate big, new ideas and take (smart) risks; experience in use of social media for communications

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Bi-lingual with command of Spanish
- Experience at JPMorganChase, a Fortune 500 company and/or major institution
- Strong command of and experience with consumer financial services
